We were there on Sunday afternoon. After comparing a few menus online prior going we chose the Ship Inn. We were there for something to eat & drink before a show. The drinks were standard price and what we were expecting but the food was way overpriced for the quality and the size of the serves. We ordered a large pepperoni pizza and there was 2 slices of pepperoni per slice. Although 2slices did have an extra circle of pepperoni. And the other pizza was a small vegetarian and I seriously mean small. Virtually fits on an entree plate. The 3 tacos for $20 were small with not much filling. What really surprised us though was the hot chips. A serve of chips is $10 and you seriously get a basket of chips that is the size of a man’s hand. It is the serve you would get when you order a side of fries. Even in top quality restaurants you pay $10 but it’s a lovely bowl of fries with aioli. I know businesses are in to making huge profits from the middle class but this was truly, “ havin’ a lend of you”. I don’t write reviews, but this one was a must. I even put the app in my phone to do so. Eat next door at Betty’s Burgers, then go back to the Ship Inn to drink. Don’t get...
Read moreI have been here twice late at night, around 8-10 pm time period. Staff welcomed us in but beyond that I felt like they were too unbothered to speak any more words than “yep”, the two girls behind the bar only glared at us and spoke with a very flat bored tone… I had to guess that she heard me because she just glared again at me to let me know she was ready to take the next item on my order. It was very unwelcoming.
The 4 pines pale ale was almost off/ should have been replaced. The chicken on the pizza could have been cooked days ago, the chips could have been from the morning they were so stale. During the dinner I had remembered my previous experience here very similar, that I felt I insulted the bar woman and that she hates me almost.
As the last person leaving the inside of the bar I waved at the barstaff and said thanks but got no response and only glared at in response. I hope the staff was just having a bad day but it still felt like she really just disliked me/ us.
Go here if you want minimal service, minimal food taste for a high cost, and off / past the use...
Read moreTried to have a drink here after one at the Opera Bar. I'm local and was treating a friend visiting from interstate who has an ABI (acquired brain injury). We had both had one drink. The bouncer asked my friend how many drinks he'd had tonight. He replied only one. I then explained that my friend has an ABI but the bouncer was not remotely interested and told us we couldn't enter. I will be submitting a formal complaint in writing to the management but FYI do not visit this venue if you have a disability as you stand a good chance of being treated like rubbish by untrained staff. So we went to the Blu Horizon Bar at the Shangri La hotel around the corner where we had cocktails with a view and were treated with courtesy and respect like all people should be. Btw we were both well dressed, polite and completely sober after one wine spritzer, not stumbling loud rowdy drunken slobs. So be warned punters! Spend your money where it is welcome and...
