Woolpack Hotel Redfern — Restaurant in Sydney

I live locally regularly enjoyed coming to this pub, however, their recent lack of communication has left me not wanting to return.

I booked a table for some drinks on Christmas Day (bookings were fully open and confirmed via two automated emails). I turned up on Christmas Day to realise the pub wasn’t open. I totally understand pubs not being open on Christmas Day, however, it was the fact I had booked and had numerous confirmation emails (albeit automated). Was no one checking the system ahead of time? All my details were on the bookings, so I would’ve appreciated a call or an email to let me know they were going to be shut as this impacted Christmas Day for my friends and I.

I have since tried to email them about this numerous times, left DMs and commented on their Instagram posts to no response:

Pretty disappointed as I really enjoyed coming to this pub - good food and a good vibe, just a shame they haven’t responded to a regular customer. It doesn’t really align with the local image...

When I was up ordering food at the bar I saw two baby cockroaches crawling around the bar (on the bench and on the roof) … I honestly don’t even know if the staff noticed them, but they were clear as day.

The schnitzel was dry and somehow still tasted undercooked, it was stone cold by the time I got to it after eating the chips which were dry too but that’s probably because the gravy had the consistency of dish water (and colour) and was all soaked up by the schnitzel.. the gravy pot, as tiny as it is, was delivered to the table half empty and only covered the schnitzel (barely). I felt like I was pouring water on my meal.

The wedges were so salty that I couldn’t finish them. And the sour cream and red sauce were delivered in the same jar - with the red sauce to sour cream ratio all out.

It’s such a great environment and awesome that pets can come along, but cleanliness and a meal that’s worthy of the price you’re paying for it would be very beneficial for...

My friends and I had a dreadful experience here tonight. After following up on a couple of drinks after 20 minutes, the bartender came out to move us inside even though it wasn't yet 10pm and other groups were still at the outdoor seating. He refused to give us our drinks we had now been waiting on for over half an hour until we came inside. Once we did, one of our party asked if she ordered a cocktail now would it take a similar amount of time. The bartender said no and he'd make one for her now. After a while she went to check on the drink and he had chosen not to make it and gave her a lecture on her attitude for asking how long the drink would take to make. His attitude and demeanour was aggressive. I understand it was a busy night and the pub was understaffed but I have never experienced such awful service in my life.
