Yang's Dumpling — Restaurant in Sydney

We ordered the tuesday deal: 6 pork dumplings and the beef soup. It came first and the dumplings were good, decent sized and tasted nice. The soup however was quite plain, there was little noodles and 4 thin slices of tofu, but no vegetables like in the image, only just 3 slivers of green shallots.The beef was also tough and tasteless. We slowly finished the dish before having to wait another 5 minutes for the next dish which was the chicken fried rice. It was extemely underwhelming, the fried egg was good.The rice contained frozen vegetables (diced carrot, corn and peas) and nothing else. The chicken was good, it was fried. But the rice didnt seem fried and overall it just wasn't worth the purchase. Then we ordered combo 1: 3 pork buns and 3 vege + pork buns. The pork buns were really good while the vege + pork ones weren't as nice. The vegetable was just like spinach and green shallots so it didnt have a nice texture (unlike chives or cabbage).

Overall, the pork dumplings were good while all the other food was super underwhelming and plain. The service was poor and we had to wait excessively long for each dish...

Food is probably more 2 stars, but since it's a small business, I want to be more lenient

So we came by for a late night bite and was hoping it would hit the spot. Ordered wonton soup, beef noodle soup and the pan fried buns. The wonton soup was awful. The soup was full of msg with no other flavours and the wonton itself has a bit of strange sour taste. In comparison, the beef noodle soup was not too bad. Quite generous with the meat actually. Just when we thought things might take a turn for the better, we got served some not so fresh buns. The bottom of the buns was not crispy at all. We spoke to the owner and she agreed to swap for a fresh batch. With the new batch served, the texture of the bun was still not quite right. Although stuffing was quit generous. I mean for a shop thats supposedly be specialised in the pan fried buns, that is almost unacceptable to serve any "left over" buns. Probably...

30 min wait for takeaway, watched people who ordered far later than us get the same food we ordered.

Only after they brought out food to the later tables did they remember that we were still there and had to ask what we ordered again. We also did not get any dipping sauces. The service is quite disappointing and all we got was a quick 'sorry for the wait'. I also observed the cashier who handled money picking up a dropped dumpling with her bare hands.

Unfortunately the quality of food was not enough to outweigh this experience as it was rushed after their mistake. The pan fried pork buns were not fried long enough and the skin was tough and chewy, and the xiaolongbao skin was thick and did not contain a lot of soup. Somehow it was already lukewarm 5 minutes after receiving it.
