Amazing food with delicious spices. This place is a favourite of ours which we don’t visit often enough. Generally we dine when we have a show at the Lyric Theatre. This visit the show started 7pm and the restaurant on a Wednesday doesn’t open until 6pm which is quite tight for a pre-theatre dinner. We got there early and decided what we wanted from the menu out the front so we informed them of our show and ordered as we were seated. They were so accommodating. Food came out quickly and we were out the door at 6:35pm. Very rushed, but yummy and so worth it. Really loved the Kasturi Kebab (chicken, chose spicy level) and the Khasta Hara Mahee (semolina crusted barramundi, with a selection of dips). Also ordered the Fort Kochi Moilee (mixed quality seafood in a coconut broth) which my partner loved but was a little too sweet for me, and Beef Vindaloo which I loved, but my partner not no much as not much of a beef lover. All comes down to a matter of taste, but we’ll definitely be back to try more. Tip: We ordered the above with a serve a rice and it was a heap of food for two. I’d do a half serve of the barramundi next time or leave it off altogether. Entrees are quite large. The curries are very saucy and I love mixing leftover sauce with rice but we were too full to take advantage of this. I should add the service was very attentive. High...
Read moreHad a really bad experience. Wanted to try this place for a while so booked it for my friends birthday, the food was good but the staff was all over the place. We ordered one soya chaap and one chicken entree and when the food came we couldn’t tell which one was which so we asked the waitstaff to which the guy replied, “you should know better”. It was appalling and we couldn’t tell if he was trying to be racist or what. We figured they were both chicken, so another server came and picked up a piece from the plate with his hands and ate it to “just confirm” it was chicken. It was a bit traumatising to see such unprofessionalism from the staff of such a well known restaurant. We asked for the cake that we handed them earlier to which their floor manager said, “ yeah i’ll get it please don’t confuse us”. Anyway, we brushed everything off and paid the bill but checked later that we were charged twice for the chicken entree which they accidentally gave us and their wait staff also ate and also charged us twice for our malibu shots. We asked for a refund but received a very cold, unapologetic response from the lady at the counter. She was super defensive and wanted to blame us for not checking it earlier. Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone as even after spending $80 pp we were treated this way. Also, their Negronis...
Read moreMy wife and I went to this place last night for dinner. Before we could enter Zaaffran we were a bit lost as there were many restaurants there. I called Zaaffran and someone picked up. Before I could explain to the person I was lost, my wife spotted the entrance and we walked in. I said sorry and hung up and saw the man who had answered the phone. He threw his hands up in the air and was frowning at us. That put us off. My wife and I were disappointed even before we walked in. After we sat down, we decided we wanted to sit outside and have a nice view of the bay. To which again the same guy was rude and said no. Later he went in and asked his manager and and decided to take us outside and offered us a uncomfortable seat. We decided to move back in. We ordered the food which I must agree was finger licking good. The person who served us was on purpose trying to make us over order. He said food that we were ordering would not be enough. When we said if need be we ll order later, he said the food will take a long time. The food we ordered was more than enough though. Also for the others at another table he brought the cheque to their table but asked us to go pay at the counter. I am sorry to say this. but even though the food was good we wouldn't be coming back to your...
