Located within the ovolo hotel, just near Pyrmont bridge, it was a cozy and kinda hidden place. It was actually very nice and an interesting menu for vegetarian only food! (NOTE: I came here in Dec 2021)
The staff member who served us was super friendly and welcoming and made sure we had good seating in a quiet area. He gave us the dining room area as he said it was a bit loud in the other (normal) dining area.
We had a variety of food: tempura enoki: great texture, crisp with a nice soft interior - the sauce was also a great addition 64 egg and migas: I really liked the texture of this, with the truffled sourdough breadcrumbs really making it that much better!! Highly recommend. It’s a unique dish but really quite nice cauliflower steak: not too bad, but not my favourite. Definitely isn’t meant to be an alternative to steak but I just feel like it didn’t have any particular great taste or texture to it truffled mac and cheese: yum! FAVOURITE dish of the night. Would come back just to have this again hahaha. Highly recommend And for dessert, the juniper berry caramel poached bananas. This was a … strange dessert. The flavour was a bit weird but yeah, not necessarily bad. It was just a strange mix of flavours and some were a bit overpowering and off putting.
Overall, the service was great, the general atmosphere was nice and the food was different and unique. If you come here, have an open mind towards food as it isn’t what you’d normally have. I enjoyed the experience but I could see some people finding it a “weird”...
Read moreWhat makes Mister Percy my #1 pick isn’t its beautiful retro and rebellious decor or its creative yet homey cuisine — it is its judiciously thought out service that sets it apart from the rest.
On my recent visit, I was greeted by a man named Antonio whose warm but powerful welcome signaled the start of what was to be a trip to Italy right in the cavernous lobby of the Ovolo hotel.
A man of taste, full of stories of a life well lived, Antonio spoke of owning a restaurant, living on a farm, bellowing songs as a musician and so many more adventures that he managed to transform an otherwise ordinary dinner into a complete cultural experience.
Recommending the best accompanying wines and building a perfectly curated menu for the night, I can’t think of any other restaurant in Sydney that provides service as personal as Antonio. Through him, Mister Percy provided an escape, a journey far away, in a time when we can barely leave our doorsteps.
By the time you read this, you may have started to hear praise for the Ovolo. Murmurs of chef’s tables, boudoir experiences, musical talents and even fresh markets — the complete experience owes its unique flair to the amazing Antonio.
Under the low, warm lights of Mister Percy’s lounge, you can share beautiful plates from their all-vegetarian menu, toast a glass of their finest boutique or local wine and just stay a little while to hear more of Antonio’s tales from the other side of the world.
If there’s a place to visit this Valentine’s Day, it’s definitely Mister Percy. And, please, ask...

Lovely atmosphere and friendly wait staff… But sadly, that doesn’t make up for the food. It was so bad it was honestly funny. We had trouble even figuring out what the dishes on the menu were supposed to be, so we had to ask the waitress for help. That’s when the real fun began—turns out almost everything is straight out of a jar or can.
I paid $18 for a small handful of thin chips dusted with paprika and a half tin of mussels 🤣🤣 Putrid.
The artichokes? Straight out of the jar and deep-fried in-house—not terrible, to be fair.
Anchovies with confit garlic? Yep, straight out of the can again.
Or maybe you're in the mood for a sad little squid roll
Honestly, you’d be better off ducking down to your local 7/11 and grabbing whatever junk they’ve got on the shelves. At least then you’d save your money, because that’s all this place is serving anyway.
They do have things like steak on the menu, but unless you’re keen to overpay for a tiny piece of cheap stewing meat, don’t bother. That’s the theme across the whole menu: overpriced and low quality.
I was gonna grab a beer too—until I found out they only stock canned “artisanal” beers and charge $15 each. I wasn’t even footing the bill and I still chose water.
Such a shame. It’s a beautiful-looking venue, and it honestly wouldn’t take much to turn it around. But definitely needs a new head chef. The dude needs to retire or try a new profession—he mentally clocked out years ago.
Would probably make a good episode of ramseys kitchen...
