A Gem of an Indian Restaurant

We can’t recommend this Indian restaurant highly enough! From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted with a lovely decor and ambiance that sets the stage for a fantastic dining experience. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it perfect for both casual outings and special occasions.

The food is nothing short of spectacular. Every dish we’ve ordered has been beautifully presented and packed with flavor. Whether you’re a fan of classic Indian dishes or looking to try something new, their menu never disappoints. They also offer very good vegan options, which are truly delicious and crafted with the same care and attention as everything else on the menu.

The staff truly elevate the experience. They’re attentive, friendly, and always make you feel welcome. Their genuine care for their guests is evident, and it adds a personal touch that makes this restaurant stand out.

This has quickly become our favorite Indian restaurant, and we’re confident it will become yours too. A must-visit for anyone who loves exceptional food, a wonderful dining atmosphere, and excellent vegan choices! We can’t recommend this Indian restaurant highly enough! What a shame! We were recommended to come here and it was such a disappointment, we were seated next to the windows and the restaurant was very cold, we hadn't had the menus for more than a minute before we were asked if ready to order, which of course we weren't. What we ordered; papadums and mango chutney, to start, followed by, beef Madras, butter chicken, plain naan, saffron rice. We were so surprised when the main meal came out and we hadnt even been brought our papadums and chutney. We told the waitress this and she just said, yes, they are coming. Never have we been to an Indian restaurant and recieved our entrees with the main. However, we did not recieve them, some time later a girl brought the mango chutney, but the papadums never arrived. The butter chicken was bright red and tasted just like Heinz tomato soup with next to no spice at all, the beef madras (which we expected to be very spicy) was completely bland and had zero spice. The rice was nice and the naan was very good. We went to the bar to pay the bill, we explained our disappointment about not receiving the papadums and she didn't seem bothered. She charged us nearly $90 and we hadn't even seen the bill. She then showed the bill and it had the chutney on, which we asked to be removed as we hadn't eaten it because they never brought the accompanying dish. She seemed to not understand what we were complaining about, but removed the charge for the chutney. We felt she would understand once she went to clear our table and then would realise the chutney was untouched and where she left it because there was no papadums brought to us. No one came to check on us during our meal, so there was no chance to bring it up. We left cold and...

Lentils Indian Restaurant in Torquay, VIC

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 — Best Indian Restaurant in Torquay VIC!

During our recent day trip along the scenic Great Ocean Road, we wrapped up the evening with a dinner stop at Lentils Indian Restaurant in Torquay — and what an absolute gem this place turned out to be!

From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed by the lovely couple who own and run the restaurant. Their hospitality was exceptional — genuine, attentive, and made us feel like family. The ambiance is cozy, modern, and thoughtfully designed, creating the perfect environment to unwind after a long drive.

Now to the food — every single dish we ordered was a star on its own, yet together they created an unforgettable feast. We tried the Punjabi Chicken Curry, Chicken Tikka Masala, and Palak Paneer — each dish was rich in flavour, perfectly spiced, and tasted authentically home-cooked. The Lacha Paratha, Butter Naan, and Garlic Naan were soft, fresh, and the ideal companions to scoop up every last bite of those delicious gravies.

You can truly taste the love and care put into each dish. It’s rare to find such balance — flavor, presentation, portion size, and atmosphere — all ticking the right boxes.

Without a doubt, this is the best Indian restaurant in Torquay, and possibly one of the most satisfying Indian dining experiences we’ve had in Victoria. 10/10 — highly recommended to anyone visiting or passing through this beautiful coastal town.

We will...

Recently visited this place with my wife. It's close to the Woolies Torquay. We went to have our dinner and the restaurant was looking beautiful from outside - easily recognisable. We went inside no disappointment as the ambiance was so Indian and nice. The staff were super welcoming and polite. We ordered butter chicken naan and soft drink. Food was fresh and yum. The owner was personally very engaging and super nice. We had some good talk with her. I highly recommend this place if you wana try some nice Indian food in Torquay.

We visited this restaurant recently and had a wonderful experience. The ambience is amazing, food was flavourful and freshly prepared. The service was quick and top notch. The lady, who was the owner was very welcoming and accommodating. We ordered Afgani chicken tikka, Chicken tikka masala, malai kofta, paneer, daal, breads and rice and everything was delicious. We will surely visit again.
