This was a terrible place! My pregnant wife and i decided to dine here tonight. After what seemed like a good 25mins, waiter finally approached our table, regardless of my countless gestures to attract there attention. When we asked our waiter (who i believe was the owner's son) weather they had crispy pork, he got very confused what it was. Yes, it was not in the menu, but i thought this being a chinease restaurant, he would know what is was. The food was quick to come out of the kitchen. It tasted very very bland. We ordered sichuan chicken, which is normally a hot dish. But, it just had crinkle cut veges and some chicken in oyster sauce. It was terrible. So i decided to ask our waiter for some chillie oil. Now in melbourne (where we are from) this means a chillie paste to eat with the rice. Our waiter literally brought us a small container of "chillie oil" yes OIL!!. Overall experiance was very poor. Staff is under trained, most of them are school kids whom im pretty sure work weekends only at that place. The owner keeps yelling at them through out he time we were there, he did not behave like a proper manager. Alot of improvement needed for the staff, begining with a crash course of what real "chinese spices" are. My question is, what was the chef thinking when our waiter brought some oil for our table? Sure, a little bit of olive oil with the pasta, but this is...
Read moreI’m not normally one to badly review, but this was possibly the worst meal I’ve paid for in my entire dining life. Upon arrival, we sat down and we practically had prawn crackers thrown on our table and the waitress walked away to talk to her friend at the counter. We ordered the sesame prawn toast as a starter and it was simply an oil soaked piece of the thinnest white bread cooked to an inch of its life, with absolutely not iota of prawn to be seen. For main we ordered the Szechuan chicken and a plate of fried rice. The chicken was the strangest texture, the sauce did not seem to contain any Szechuan peppercorns and some of the vegetables seemed like they came out of a tin. The fried rice was oddly sweet and oily, the worst fried rice I have ever encountered in my life. My partner and I hadn’t been in a few years, and it seems to have really gone down hill. Not sure if there was a different chef on last night but safe to say we will not...
Read moreSpent the day with a friend who is down from Qld. Thought going to dinner might be a lovely way to end our day together. As we weren't familiar with what was available locally, we resorted to the internet & stumbled upon the Ming Village Chinese Restaurant. We parked in a two hour zone on the street, @ no cost. At 5.45pm on a Tuesday, parking wasn't difficult to find. The restaurant is tucked away from the corner of the main strip, & is accessed by a short, steep flight of stairs. Difficult for those with mobility issues. It wasn't busy, but others were also dining. We were promptly seated & given menus. Our orders were taken as soon as we were ready. The food arrived piping hot, was fresh, & perfectly cooked. The staff were friendly, polite. & efficient. Payment is either cash or card, & the pricing reasonable. We didn't book ahead, but I can see where it might be busy on weekends. Well worth visiting if you enjoy...
