"The Brewery". Restaurant, and Function centre, is located in the former city post office (circa 1897). A heritage land mark in the CBD, it incorporates the only functional clock tower in Townsville. Inside, dark tones predominate, creating an elegant, moody atmosphere, highlighted by a pale tongue and groove ceiling hung with fabulous art deco lamps. Patchwork style art deco glass windows, and a huge decorative gilt mirror, add further interest. Half the restaurant has large comfortable booth seats and tables, the other half, stylish wooden tables and chairs, and delicate, filmy curtains separate the two areas. One high stretch of wall has been pared back to the original brickwork revealing the Brewery's historic past, and a large window allows views into the actual brewery. A beautiful horse-shoe shaped alcove with soft lamps and a magnificent chandelier is tucked away at the rear. We tasted seven of the brewery's boutique beers, Townsville bitter premium,Townsville lager, Bandito loco Mexican lager, Belgium blond wit bier, Digger's golden ale, Ned's red ale, and a Flannigan's dry Irish stout, all noteworthy, accompanied by a dozen "Moulting Bay" Tasmanian oysters, au naturale. Our mains were, Eye fillet (250g) Kimberley red beef, grain fed, (Moranbar Queensland), served with pan fried prawns, cafe de paris butter, roasted vegetables, and a Pan seared Atlantic Salmon on pumpkin gallete with grilled field mushrooms, green beans, and salsa verde. All beautifully prepared and presented and thoroughly enjoyed. Espresso and hazelnut profiteroles with chocolate sauce and an individual caramelised lemon tart with double cream, completed our dinner, finishing with a well made coffee. A very enjoyable evening. Upstairs, a very large function room is available for, weddings, conferences, etc.The furnishings and light fittings...

Beautiful building, good atmosphere and friendly staff. Would visit again for that. Food was a big let down for our whole table of 6. No staff to show us to our booked table on arrival, and somebody was at our table when we showed ourselves in. About an hour wait on food (bar staff did tell us when we ordered, but not many options when you've booked). Pizza very unappealing... I had the Pumpkin and my friend had the BBQ beef. Mine had beyond a huge amount of cheese (each slice had what one would expect on a whole pizza) and LOADED with raw garlic, and barely any actual toppings. (Once you try to scrape some cheese off, you're basically left with overbaring garlic bread). Others at the table tried it and also agreed it was unpleasant. My friend ate half her pizza because it had too much cheese and drowned in BBQ sauce. Bubble and squeak burger looked sad (and friend didn't enjoy), and friend said the fish was tough. Friends that had the chicken parmigiana and the schnitzel said it was good. Sweet potato fries were great! I would go again though, good atmosphere and booths are fun for small groups. But I'll try a different meal, and hope that the kitchen consider this feedback on the meals we had....

At 5pm on a Friday evening , in the middle of the city , one would hope / think it would be hopping and a fun place to be at the end of the work week ....the place was virtually empty...the 2 bar staff struggled to serve, not having enough glasses etc ....tho they were very friendly....once the time came to.order food , it went downhill very fast .....the food was less than average and when we politely ask to speak with management or chef we were met with attitude & lack of interest....8 OF US DRSNK & ORDERED FOOD ...WE NEVER ASKED FOR REFUNDS OR ANYTHING....Most of us are or have been in hospitality, so simply wanted to share feedback with the chef/ management....the chef finally came out and was really nice and spoke with us all genuinely, exactly as what we wanted.....BUT the manager stood aw as y ftom us with her arms folded and a severly hostile attitude to us all .....DO NOT ACCEPT THIS TYPE OF MANAGEMENT, DO NOT SETTLE , TOWNSVILLE HAS GREAT PLACES TO SUPPORT !!! Local businesses should be a supported and helped ....BUT bad management and bad business simply is NOT...

A good place to chill after exploring the town. It was warm if not hot in far North Queensland. They brew their beer locally and I must say, I enjoy them. I had the beer paddle, I forgot how much but it surely didn’t cost a fortune. The beer was refreshing and light. They do comes with unique names and interesting illustrations. The chip was generous serving for under $10. Inside it has few pool tables and a big screen for footy. The service was friendly and fast. The brewery adjacent to the old post office building, very nice for a photo shot and located in the town centre. Don’t forget to drop by if you happen to visit Townsville.

Hello from the US via Okinawa 👋 Stopped by the TBC while on our way to City Lane and had such a good time getting paddles (flights in the US) that we stayed for food and appetizers! Friendly crew who were quick to help us even as they were training up their new folks. Beer was excellent and my wings had me thinking of home. 🤙🏻🍻 Cheers mates! 😍🇦🇺

Firstly what a great building for a brewery. They have plenty of TVs playing sport and if you ask nicely they will change the Channel for you. The beers are not amazing, they are very safe beers and not very adventurous. I ordered the chicken wings and they were okay the bbq sauce was pretty tasty. The staff were very nice.
