Exceptional Indian Cuisine at The Great Jewel of India
I've had the pleasure of dining at The Great Jewel of India several times, and each visit has been a delightful experience. The quality and taste of the food are consistently excellent, making it one of my favorite Indian restaurants.
I've tried various dishes including the Chicken Schezwan Fried Rice, Onion Bajji, Paneer Pakora, and Chicken Saag with Naan. Every dish has been flavorful and expertly prepared, showcasing the authentic and rich flavors of Indian cuisine.
Despite the superb dining experience, parking can be a bit of a challenge. There is no dedicated parking lot, and the nearby parking area across the road tends to be full, especially on weekends. However, the delicious food and excellent service more than make up for this minor inconvenience.
Overall, The Great Jewel of India stands out for its great food and consistent quality. I highly recommend it and will definitely be...
Read moreOrdered butter chicken and lamb vindaloo. Butter chicken was really nice, however medium was much hotter than other restaurants would advertise the hot option; which seemed unnecessary for butter chicken. Vindaloo tasted like phaal and was (not exaggerating) less hot than the medium butter chicken. Cardamon pods are also left in when served for a nice surprise.
Everything was proportioned nicely; chicken and lamb were pretty much as perfectly cooked as one could ask for; but the vindaloo base needs to be looked at as I've ordered it three times and every time it was as described above. I really believe it could be something beautiful but it's really egregiously disingenuous to the original dish currently.
I'll update the review in a week or so regardless of if the vindaloo has improved or not. I do sincerely hope this isn't taken the wrong way and I only mean the best for the business and it's...
Read moreMediocre sums it up pretty nicely. Recieved a rancid wine that was quickly replaced (didn't know white wine could go that brown lol). Food servings are on the smaller side but plenty enough to eat. Medium heat is crazy hot, so watch out, and don't order the kangaroo unless you like weirdly gamey chuck steak. On the flip side, they were quick to fix up any mistakes, and service isn't too long, even on a saturday night. Overall, our bad meat choice and extra spiciness could be overlooked if the food itself had any kind of depth of flavour, but it just didn't. The flavour profile could be described as bland with a side of garlic. By the end of the meal, we were trying to justify the amount we were spending. This was quite honestly the most expensive Indian place I've ever been to. $150 for three curries where one wasn't eaten and that was with the discount they gave us for our...
