Delicious Japanese Fare in a Lively Setting
I had a wonderful experience dining at Izakaya Tori with colleagues after work on a recent Friday night. Despite being extremely busy with a queue out the door, the staff was friendly and accommodating.
We ordered a variety of dishes to share including the hot pot, fried rice with prawns , fried rice with scallops, beef tataki, vegetarian dumplings, fried chicken wings, and cheese tofu on a hot plate. Everything was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. The flavors were unique compared to other Japanese restaurants I've been to.
The tablet ordering system made it quick and easy to view the menu and place our order efficiently. Even though the restaurant was packed, the staff never made us feel rushed and were able to enjoy our meal.
I loved the lively, buzzing atmosphere at Izakaya Tori. It has an authentic Japanese izakaya vibe. The decor is modern and stylish too.
Whether you're looking for a fun night out with friends or a casual dinner, I highly recommend giving Izakaya Tori a try for their tasty Japanese fare and energetic ambiance. Just be prepared for a potential wait during peak times as it's clearly a...

Firstly the service was super fast through a tablet and food is served quickly so good on them for that. The restaurant itself has a nice vibe with the lanterns and lighting creating a very cozy ambience - toilets are somewhat clean too so + points for that.
As for food, it was very mid, if not bad. The skewers were supposedly good but for the time it took between ordering and serving, these skewers are either undercooked or pre-cooked. The taste of the sauce also wasn't great.
We had also ordered: Tori Fried Chicken (7/10) decent but not the best in Perth Tori Nabe (2/10) there was some really bad ricecake, the soup was EXTREMELY salty and sweet it was disgusting to drink Soy ribs (5/10) nice to go with the rice but still overly sweet and salty (rice cake here was better than the Nabe) Wasabi Octopus (7/10) pretty nice Prawn Croquette (7.5/10) genuinely has prawn bits
Overall, an okay experience with subpar quality food - most likely wouldn't be coming back unless they improve on...
Read moreOn a Friday night arrv 6:30 and was seated quickly. The izakaya is bigger than I thought but still cosy. Love the crate/keg seats, red lanterns and design. Our food came out after 10-15mins. Honestly delicious food. Our croqutte was crispy and hot, karaage so juicy and tender, chicken hearts were pretty good (an aquired taste), yakitori was flavourful and beef nicely cooked and teriyaki tofu was sizzling and well seasoned. Beer was beering, cocktail matcha sooo good and matcha latte was divine (both sweet rather than bitter). I was skeptical due to some reviews, but I honestly had great food. For these dishes, it was pricey, a little over 100 bucks for a couple. But, we dont dine out often (So we dont mind). 4/5 because even though the food was good, didnt give me a big wow factor, i do believe generally due to dish choice. I love tofu but id try something different next time. Only thing genuinely 100% amazing was the karaage and croquettes. I had to brighten the photos purely because its just super red in there! Doesnt do the food justice...
