Modus Coffee — Restaurant in Western Australia

This place is for the serious coffee drinkers and snobs ie. the coffee is seriously good! It reminds me of really hip cafes in Sydney that do their coffee really well. They also do really good food. We ordered eggs on toast, avo on toast and the ?good morning burger, I think it was called. All amazing and worth trying with our least favourite being the eggs on toast. I loved it but my fellow diners did not rate it. The staff are super friendly too which is all lovely.

I wouldn't call this place kid friendly, though. They don't have high chairs, kid's cups or a change table in the toilet and instead have teeny tiny tables that are a disaster waiting to happen (with the kids). My partner and I walked into the freezing seating area and picked up a menu to browse the menu before sitting down as we could see there is no table service. The person behind the counter asked us to sit at a table which confused us as we had to get up to order anyway, and no one was waiting behind us in line. Despite having two wait staff for a tiny venue, we are still required to collect our own water, cutlery, and napkins from a shelf on the other side of the room, and our table had not been cleaned. The food was decent, but options super limited, which is confusing. Is this place a Coffee shop or a Cafe, or a restaurant? We couldn't tell. If we go back, it'll probably be just to order...

I've dropped into Modus a bunch of times now, and I'm constantly blown away by how good this spot is. The staff are excellent, always so friendly and helpful. The cafe itself has one of the nicest interiors I've ever seen - very clean, minimal layout with excellent furniture and more than adequate seating options. And the food and coffee is second to none - I've tried a bunch of their coffee options, from their exceptional house blend to a variety of their single origins on filter, and they're all delicious.
