🌟 A Hidden Gem in Perth ⭐️Authentic Delight 🌟

Discovering this Nepalese restaurant has been one of the biggest food highlights for us in Perth. Honestly, it feels like a treasure that every local should explore 💎 The authenticity here is unmatched — every dish carries tradition, skill, and recipes that feel like they’ve been perfected over generations. Unlike many places where you say, “oh, that was nice”, here you say, “wow, this is MASTERED.”👩‍🍳

The menu is huge, and yet every dish we’ve tried so far has been consistently delicious, fresh, and deeply satisfying. We’ve been here many times with family members of all ages, and every visit has left us wanting more. The service is warm, the atmosphere welcoming, and the food never loses its charm.

Some of our absolute favourites: 🥟 Momo/Dumpling – the star of the show! From the comforting jhol momo to the smoky kothi momo, and of course the momo platter (a must if you’re trying it for the first time). Variety of meat to choose from. We love chicken, hence our pick ☺️ 🍛 Thali (pre-prepared plate of multiple dishes)(especially the chicken thali) – bursting with authentic flavors. 🍗 Chicken dishes – the chicken choila, chicken skewers, and chilli chicken are simply outstanding. 🌱 Starters and sides – every single one feels handcrafted with love. The Waiwai, Chatpatey, Aloo/potato sukhey and Chop. ☕ Ending with a soothing cup of Himalayan tea is the perfect finish or even a start.

What stands out most is how every ingredient feels fresh, every plate feels crafted, and every visit feels like a new discovery. Sometimes you think you won’t finish your meal, but once you start, you’ll be tempted to order more — it’s that appetizing.

This restaurant truly deserves a spot on Perth’s food map. If you want to experience authentic Nepalese cuisine that blends the best of South Asian flavors in its own unique way, this is the place. The sisters and nieces and nephews and the family fellas and current staff deserve an applaud 👏 for delivering Outstanding Food and Service with such warmth!!

My personal tip: don’t just go once — visit at least Four times, because each round you’ll uncover new favourites and still want to return 😋

✨ Highly, highly recommended. A true hidden gem that Perth is lucky to have!...

1 star is too generous. The service there is pathetic. It looks like they are doing us a favour by serving. I went in last night to pick up a order which I had called and placed. After picking up the order I mentioned I would be ordering more food and would like to dine in. I asked the lady at the front counter if there was a table available inside the place and she straight away denied. She told me you can sit outside on this table. Just moments later, I saw another small group of people who were then directed to the inside premises for a table who did not have a reservation either.

After patiently waiting for someone to come and take our order, we gave up and went to the counter to place the order (despite of telling them we are waiting to place the order). Upon going on the counter, all the lady kept repeating was that you are sitting at a baby table. First of all, there was no reserved sign on that table. And secondly it was her who instructed me to sit there. Clearly she just wanted to serve people quickly and get her part of the job done. Despite of multiple attempts to place a dine in order, all she kept saying was you need to move to another table. There was not a single table that was clean at the moment she said this. And inspite of us agreeing to move she kept repeating I never told you to sit there. She was so arrogant that we did not even feel like staying back and placing the dine in order. She made us leave the place by trying to prove us wrong.

It's such a shame because the food is genuinely good. However I will never be stepping in that place again due to the customer service. She was rude, impolite and the most arrogant server I've ever encountered. Instead of apologizing, she kept putting the...

I had a very bad experience at Funky Momo (Nepalese restaurant). Everything started fine but when I ordered chicken chowmein for takeaway, the wait staff told me it was out of stock and asked me to order something else. Later, an Australian customer came and sat right next to me and ordered the same chicken chowmein. To my surprise, the staff accepted their order and served them the chowmein. I questioned the staff about how it was possible when I was told it was out of stock. She replied that they “found one packet” and cooked it for them. If that was the case, they could have informed me immediately so I could change my order. Instead, the staff looked at me rudely and gave excuses, saying my momo order was already prepared, which is hard to believe because momo cannot be ready in just 3–4 minutes. I also spoke to another staff member at the counter, who claimed that the Australian customer had pre-ordered. But I was sitting right there and saw clearly that they ordered on the spot, not in advance. On top of that, if my momo was ready in 3–4 minutes as they claimed, why did I have to wait another 10 minutes to receive it? The whole experience felt very unfair, unprofessional, and disrespectful. As a Nepali myself, I left wondering if they treated me differently just because I am Nepali while they tried to please the Australian customer. The staff’s rude attitude and inconsistent excuses made me feel extremely unwelcome. I will never return to this restaurant and would not recommend...

Our group of friends decided to try this place out because a friend recommended this place and it was a great experience. We were quite a large group and though we booked for a table, we arrived ahead of time. The staff, despite being busy, was helpful and we sat down almost straightaway. We ordered a momo platter which has a bit of each type of momo and I'll have to say I enjoyed each of them. The standard momo comes with a slightly spicy dipping sauce, and the sauce is actually good with the pan-fried and deep-fried ones too. The last version on the platter was one that is coated in a flavourful tomato sauce and that's a flavour bomb. We also got a laphing but instead of what's in the menu which is dry, we got a soupy version. We're pleasantly surprised that it came with Waiwai instant noodles bits on it which added to the texture of the dish. The laphing is like a wheat starch noodles and it's in a mildly spicy soup. The other dish we ordered was a chowmein which is essentially a Chinese fried noodles influence but in Nepalese take. The lamb that came with it was crispy and tender and the noodles was great with the green chili sauce that the staff recommended to add to it. And the last dish was an aloo puri which is like a pita bread but made from rice flour and served with a side of potato in curry-like sauce. I enjoyed stuffing the potato chunks in it and eating the bread together with the saucy potato. Definitely would come back to try the other dishes.

I frequently visit this place for quick bites with friends or evening snacks and even dinner. This place stays open till about 8-8:30 pm on all days of the week except Mondays. It is located in the heart of Vic Park and is easily accessible by public transport and personal vehicles. I have tried the momo platter which has 4 different kinds of momos- steamed, kothey momos ( pan fried momos), deep fried momos and chilly momos served with a chutney and some salad. What I like apart from these are the chowmein and the fried rice which gives me a true Indian street style flavour and they sever good quantity for each dish. I have also tried their aloo chop which has not disappointed me either. However, since the place is always crowded it is difficult to get a reservation and the service is not always great. If and when there are no tables available the staff is rude to the customers who walk in. Also, we have seen that for some people they take reservations on call but whenever we call to book a table we are told that they don't take reservations so that might be slightly inconvenient at times. Apart form that would totally recommend this place to everyone.
