I popped in to get some Takeaway as I was staying in Mildura overnight & from reading other Google reviews, I had decided on Andy’s Kitchen. I was not disappointed! On arrival I was warmly welcomed by the owner who enquired had I been before, and almost insisted as it was my first time I should eat in the restaurant & he assured me fast service from the kitchen, to which I agreed. The service in this restaurant is next level with the use of iPads & headsets where the front of house can communicate to the larger dining area at the back, where I was quickly seated. Within a minute of being seated I was asked if I’d like to order a drink, which I did, a moment later another staff member politely took me through the specials for the night & I placed my order. My table already had a large bottle of water, cutlery & napkins. The rear dining space is huge and covered by a large bamboo style thatched hut rooftop feeling very tropical & felt like I had been magically transported to a lovely holiday destination. Very soon my Entree of 2 x Roasted Duck pancake with plum sauce arrived & was beautifully presented, generous in portion size & slice of duck & absolutely delicious! Barely minutes after finishing my entree & it being promptly cleared from my table, my main arrived, Nasi Goreng with Chicken & I have to say, on first impressions alone it was an impressive looking bowl of food. First few mouthfuls in I thought I had died & gone to heaven as thus Nasi goreng was an absolute flavour bomb, packed full of yummy ingredients, plenty of chicken throughout, very generous serving size, I actually struggled a little to get through the whole serving. Soon after I was delivered a complementary desert as I was a ‘first time’ customer, of a panacotta with chocolate & passion fruit sauce which was very nice & a great touch to end this memorable meal! The entire experience from beginning to end was SO good, it was really quiet hard to believe. My only disappointment on reflection is to come here again, I must drive 6hours from Melbourne, but to be honest, it would be well worth it!! I highly recommend Andy’s Kitchen. I look forward to returning again in the future & bringing my family to share the experience & wonderfully delicious food this restaurant so generously offers! Well done to the exceptional team running this establishment and the superior level of customer service they are putting forward as it certainly makes you stand out...
Read moreWe dined at Andy's Kitchen on Monday 7 April. Entered the small cafe/take-away style front of the shop from the street but were blown away when we were led down a slatted wooden walkway with trickling water and diffused light each side to a huge semi al fresco section out the back covered in asian furnishings, large palms and hanging plants. A feast for the senses. We were amazed at how quickly the huge area was filling up at 6pm on a Monday and were re-assured by several groups of asian appearance people entering which is always a good sign. My partner's entree of Chicken Satays (3 piece $15) arrived promptly and were delicious...large pieces of slightly charred chicken in a tasty peanut sauce with a small asian salad bed. Excellent. My Singapore Noodles ($24) which arrived soon after sadly were not so good. Bland and uninspiring. They were generous in size with a good mix of asian greens, some red capsicum, egg and plenty of tiny shrimp. The roasted pork slices while large and plentiful lacked the usual sweet and tangy BBQ flavour associated with SN's. The noodles were abundant but lacked sufficient curry powder and any chilli. Overall a disappointing dish. My suggestion to the chef would be to add a teaspoon of Sambal Oelek to each serve plus to swap the tiny shrimp with 2 or 3 large prawns plus some fish cake. Maybe the dish has been "dumbed down" to suit the largely "ozzie" diners but, for a seasoned SN junkie this did not measure up. My search for the holy grail continues...any SN dish that comes close to the famous, and sadly now closed, Kun Ming cafe in China Town Melbourne. Andy's Kitchen has a fabulous setting, with prompt, courteous and friendly service but a somewhat disappointing...
Read moreWelcoming, cosy, warm and very clean. Kitchen open view. Staff very attentive and friendly. We sat inside as the outside was fully booked but there is also an amazing fully enclosed Bali themed area out the back. Perfect warm ambience and lighting throughout. Despite being fairly full, noise level was quite low and enjoyable. Next, the food... Personally not a fan of Asian type food (my partner loves it ) but the food here at Andy's Kitchen was impressive to say the least ! The Chef's create and cook dishes with pride and passion, not mass production....its not just food whacked on a plate. Every morsel was absolutely Market Fresh and then cooked to perfection. The Mushrooms, Silverbeet, Carrots, Beans, Capsicum, Broccoli, Zucchini etc were plump, colourful, firm and cut large chunky, enhancing the overall look. Cooked to perfection, tender but firm...not limp. Unfortunately I'd eaten quite a lot of the veggies by the time I'd thought to take photos. 📸 The special fried rice was also perfect and importantly, not oily as most others are that I've had. No one like things drowned in oil, greasy or overcooked. I'd give them 6 Stars if I could. We'll be back for sure. Chicken and Corn Soup was very tasty with a adequate amount of good size chicken pieces, although I'd had loved a little more chicken. :) Stay Fresh Andy's Kitchen !...
