Food O'Clock — Restaurant in Victoria

We have been getting take away on occassion from food o'clock for a few years now I never pay more than $35 for 2 and we have leftovers. I have been saying we will have to go there for dinner one day so this year I decided to treat myself and my young son out for tea for my birthday. Banquet for 2 and 2 drinks $111.50!!!! which when I ordered was of the understanding it was $50 for 2. My weeks grocery bill and my birthday ruined. I am totally floored and although the staff were lovely, the service was extremely slow (we were there for over 2 hours) the food was not exceptional and absolutely no where near reflected the cost, however, we did enjoy it until I went to pay. I could have had Chinese, Turkish, the pub etc. and paid half of what our meal cost there. The menu was not clear and it's absolutely appalling that the person who took our order would think in a million years that I would be happy to pay over $100 for a meal for 1child and 1 adult and not point out that it was $50 per person. I chose that option because I don't have alot of money and it looked like the cheaper way to go. What should have been an enjoyable birthday dinner has ended up being a very costly and dissappointing experience. I am upset and significantly poorer but it's a lesson learned and I probably won't dine in there ever again. I should add that I told the woman we payed at the end that I would have never ordered that option if I knew it was only for one and she did appologise for it not being explained properly but unfortunately it does not make it ok or give me back the $50 I could not...

Ordered medium heat beef rogani. I can not eat spicy food or even pepper. I got this order for another family member. Picked up about 8.20pm. There was zero spice or heat. I tasted the sauce, which was bland with ZERO spice. Because they closed at 9pm I did not call that night. I called the following night to discuss this with food o'clock. They called me back and gave me a pathetic excuse for it not being of medium spice heat. Apparently it could be a different chillies they were using. This dish was not even mild. Yes, it was still eaten because it was so late at night and the family member was hungry. I asked what they were going to do about it and she said Nothing. We will never go there again. No spice, no customer service. The woman is trying to make out we are at fault. But as I said I can not eat anything with even pepper, so it had zero spice, zero chillies, zero curry. Not even an apology from the woman. So rude and abrupt. If you read the other 1 star reviews, they are all similar saying no spice to the food. I know this woman will try to respond saying don't come back. We have zero intention of returning. She may say it is good food. If someone orders a curry its because they want a meal with spices in it. The meal given was about as bland as baby food. Do yourselves a favour and DO NOT GO THERE. Whilst inBendigo, I ventured into Food O Clock for a delightful lunchtime experience. As someone who loves enjoys Indian cuisine, I typically opt for a combination of meat and vegetarian dishes between 2 people. This time, I sought the owner's recommendation for a perfect companion to my lamb vindaloo. The owner, Iqbal Singh, immediately suggested their house specialty – peppered goat.

With nearly 20 years of experience running restaurants in Melbourne, Iqbal brings a touch of culinary magic to Bendigo. His signature peppered sauce, is truly a must-try! The food arrived within 15-20 minutes, and it was absolutely fantastic. The flavors were incredibly well-balanced, and the lamb vindaloo had a perfect kick. But the star of the show was definitely the peppered goat. The sauce was flavorful and new to me, complementing the tender goat meat perfectly.

It was wonderful to chat with Iqbal, who shared his journey from Melbourne to Bendigo and his passion for creating delicious Indian food. His friendly demeanor and genuine love for his craft truly shine through in the incredible dishes served at Food O Clock.
