We recently dined at Parkers Steakhouse in Geelong and unfortunately, it was by far the worst dining experience we’ve ever had in the area.
We ordered two medium-rare scotch fillet steaks with sides of gravy, blue cheese sauce, fries, char-grilled corn, and char-grilled vegetables, plus an entrée of chicken wings. For drinks, we had the house Pinot Noir and house Shiraz. • Steaks: Both steaks were inedible – heavily over-charred to the point of being burnt and bitter, with a poor-quality cut of meat. The so-called “char-grilled” flavour was simply burnt. • Sauces: The steak sauces were genuinely unpleasant – the blue cheese sauce in particular had an odd chalky texture and taste that made it impossible to eat. • Entrée: The chicken wings were greasy, poorly seasoned, and unappetising. • Drinks: The red wine was served cold, as if it had been kept in the fridge, which completely ruined its flavour. • Venue: The restaurant felt old, dated, and unclean – there was visible dust on surfaces and an overall neglected appearance. • Service: Staff were polite enough but seemed unusually anxious. When I raised all these issues with the manager, he was dismissive and claimed “that’s how scotch fillets are generally served,” implying we didn’t understand steak. No apology, no discount, no offer of compensation.
Overall, this was an extremely disappointing experience in every respect – food, drinks, venue, and customer service. We will never return and would strongly discourage friends and family...
Read moreMy recent dining experience at Parkers Steakhouse left me with a mixed impression. The restaurant had some notable strengths but also fell short in certain aspects.
On a positive note, the staff and service at Parkers Steakhouse were commendable. The employees were friendly, welcoming, and conducted themselves in a professional manner. Their attentiveness added to the overall dining experience, making us feel well taken care of throughout the meal.
One highlight of the evening was the impressive selection of wines. The wines offered were of excellent quality and complemented the meal perfectly. It was evident that the restaurant takes pride in curating a diverse and enjoyable wine list, which greatly contributed to the enjoyment of the dining experience.
However, despite these positives, the steaks themselves were somewhat underwhelming. While they were decently cooked, they didn't quite match up to the standards we've experienced at other establishments. The flavor and tenderness of the steaks left something to be desired, and we couldn't help but compare them to better options available elsewhere.
In conclusion, Parkers Steakhouse has some notable strengths, including friendly and professional staff as well as an exceptional wine selection. However, the main attraction, the steaks, fell short of our expectations, and we have enjoyed better cuts at other places. With some improvements to the steak quality, Parkers Steakhouse could truly become a top-notch dining...
Read moreWell, Parker’s is officially off the cards as a good steak house in Geelong. Been a few years since my last outing there. I dined with three others and we all left feeling very disappointed.
The garlic bread to start was basic a best, this was followed by our steak and chips mains with sides of broccoli & cauliflower bake, charred corn on the cob & crispy onions.
Thankfully for me my steak was nice but over cooked, my wife’s was undercooked and very tough, our guests steaks were both undercooked and very average as they put it. One was dry and the other was just ok.
The corn had no char apart from 3-4 kernels on each, the broccoli bake was small and hard with what looked and tasted like a Kraft single melted on top and the onions were that tiny and oily that they just got left in the bowl. The chips were pretty good but a little sparse and not the old steak fries off old and not suited to a steakhouse.
The atmosphere is still traditional and nice, the staff were at times over attentive and uncoordinated or not around. Never got offered another drink after the first. But they were polite and friendly.
Gone are the days of metal gravy boats of delicious sauce and juicy steak basted and grilled to perfection and sides worth saving room for.
Sorry parkers you’re now way outclassed by Squires Loft, Emerge or Maestros for a similar...
