So I read about award-winning pies - blah blah blah. So thought this would be a have-to visit while the family and I were in Inverloch recently. I wish I hadn't bothered.
While we were looking at the board and display cases for what we wanted in respect to pies/sausage rolls etc, we constantly had the teen staff staring at us constantly asking us what we wanted. While some might see that as being attentive - we saw that as hurrying us along while we were trying to decide what we wanted (we were not in the way of anyone else and had stood back while making our selections). Once we ordered and paid for our hot food we made our way to the sweets to select what we wanted.
This part of the store was bedlam with staff seeming not to know where they were, who they were serving, who was next, or even what was in the display cases.
Let's just say that I was glad to be out of there by the time we got our food to eat at our accommodation as the place was a madhouse - and not because of the customers.
The sausage rolls were bland, the potato pie was meh and the cheese and bacon scroll was decent.
As for the sweets, biscoff cookie was ok, wagon wheels were ok, french vanilla slice was seriously ordinary with no flavour except for the sugar in the icing.
All items were reasonably priced - thank goodness, because if I'd paid top dollar for any of it I'd be really ticked off because it was the most underwhelming place we visited during our whole holiday in the...
Read morei’m currently sitting in paul’s as i write this, and oh. my. goodness. paul the pieman’s may be the best part of inverloch, maybe even better then the crystal clear water at the beach. i’ve been coming here for over 10 years, and it’s only gotten better. my one life goal is to meet the man himself, but at this point it’s only a dream… anyways the cheese and salad rolls always have the perfect amount of mayonnaise in them. the balance of the crunchy bread and the refreshing salad is unmatched. the custard tarts are lovely, and there is a wide range of drinks. if you find yourself in this little gem of a country town, make sure to give paul a visit, you won’t regret it!!
update: it’s been almost 2 months since i found myself in the warm hospitality of paul’s. i still think about it almost everyday. paul, love...
Read moreGreat big pie shop right in the heart of Inverloch, very hard to miss. In the summer time this bakery is pumping and usually has a long queue inside for just about everything you can think a great bakery should have.
Great variety of pies, meat pies, pasties, baked goods and even sandwiches too. Large selection of family pies to take home and bake for the family as well.
Our beef, cheese and bacon pie was served fresh hot with massive chunks of beef inside and the seafood pie pleasantly had a couple of decent sized prawns and even scallops as well not bad but still filled mainly with seafood sticks not bad value for the price tag.
Majority of the sitting spaces have been taken away due to restrictions, but when your a 5 min walk from the beach and plenty of other outside seating available this is not...
