Shepparton zaika — Restaurant in Victoria

I am extremely disappointed with my recent order. I waited 50 minutes while the Menulog app kept updating with “10 min, 5 min, 4 min,” but in reality I didn’t receive my food until 1 hour and 20 minutes later. When I called the restaurant, they insisted that my food had been handed over to the driver 15 minutes earlier. However, when I asked the delivery driver directly, they confirmed they had only received the order about 10 minutes before delivering it. This shows a clear lack of honesty and coordination.

To make matters worse, I specifically ordered Kadai Paneer, but instead I was given Paneer Butter Masala – a completely different dish. After such a long wait, receiving the wrong order made the experience even more frustrating.

What makes this delay even more unacceptable is that my house is only a 3-minute drive from the restaurant. Despite being so close, it still took more than an hour to deliver my food, which is simply unreasonable. If you're expecting a hot, spicy authentic Indian cuisine, you might be disappointed with this place. My dish was rated three chillies but it had none at all. The sauce was very bland with next to no flavour, just food colouring, failed to taste any cumin, cardamom, cloves, cinnamon or any spices at all. The garlic naan was dry and the garlic had no smell or flavour. My partner was happy with his dish as it was supposed to be mild. I found the pakora dry and lacking flavour while he said they were ok. Could not fault the service, friendly and efficient, but the restaurant was cold and the plates even colder. Very bad experience., would not recommend. Wanted to have some good Indian cuisine for my wife’s birthday, decided to give Zaika a try, was the worst decision I could have made. Sunday night on Australia Day, they barely had any staff, they make you wait to even take the order. When ordering we asked for some warm water to drink and we had to wait 30min for it and 5 reminders. The food we got after another 30min and apologies for the delay - was burnt and bitter. We asked them to check with the chef if our dish is okay, they came back saying they made it right, and can make another one if we want.
