Silver Key Cafe — Restaurant in Victoria

We attended here today to get some lunch. I’m currently on crutches and as I went to use the accessible bathroom, the ramp up to the bathroom was incredibly greasy and slippery. As soon as I transferred my weight to the crutches, they slipped out from underneath me and I landed on my injured ankle in an attempt to stop myself from falling, and in doing so I exacerbated my injury. Why have an accessible bathroom if it isn’t really accessible at all? If this wasn’t bad enough, several of our orders were incorrect, including two salads ordered and only one arriving, and two sides ordered for two different people and coming in the one dish, with no clarification. Silver Key Café makes the best veggie burger I’ve ever had. The buns are fresh and lightly toasted and they’re chock a block full of really fresh salad ingredients, aioli, avocado and hand made potato cakes. They come with pineapple but I don’t like pineapple so I don’t have it. The burger is superb, loaded with flavour, a perfect amount of dressing, with the warmth and crispiness of the potato cake finishing it off perfectly. One of very few places in Rutherglen to get food later in the day. Once inside, it’s more of a fish and chip shop but the burgers are definitely more of a burger bar style! They had the potential to be 4 star worthy but the patties were tough and over cooked. The toppings were super generous and really cheesy which we loved. Potato cakes were lovely! Would definitely return to give them a second go...
