Made it up the sight-seer lift to kids snow play Mt Buller today. So relieved to see an indoor dining space to finish off the 2.5hr creative snow man competition and snow fort battle
The outdoor fire pit was struggling to warm anybody and stay alive/alight
Inside you wait & queue (briefly) for a table that needed making up as we were a group of 10
More like a pub lunch and food hall table set up m, decor and interior
Order with table number scan (kind of difficult) with internet 🛜 wifi outages and everything cashless on Mt Buller pretty much so went to bar/counter instead
Shared meals for most of the table just to warm the tummy and get out of the cold. Older teen boys ordered their own BBQ Sandwiches each (definitely no share going on here).
Housemade Reuben with the Swiss Russian ingredient combinations was “soooooo good“ and the Pulled Pork was good only, “not big enough or meaty enough” as more slaw was the feedback. Not quite a brioche slider yet not quite a burger in size. Both served with side chips in cute plastic plate/bowls with paper lining
The buffalo wings were fabulous and disappeared I think even the bones they were so good. The ranch dressing condiment bowl was even licked clean by one the kids - we asked to order takeaway another serve unfortunately for us they don’t do any takeaways for rubbish reasons
The 2x mac & cheese were not that great - seems to be a recurring issue up here in Mt Buller region that the cheese is fake, overly processed and manufactured cheese, not real tasting.
The chips were a good serve but not well cooked - probably a tad undercooked as not golden/crunchy & a bit limp
The Nachos suffered same feedback re: cheese but were demolished from pure age group demographics of the kids eating it
Had already ordered hot drinks from side cafe before realising 2 seperate venues - 1 licenced and 1 cafe
Yay for Wednesday Whiskey...
Read moreWorst restaurant we've set foot in. After waiting about 30 minutes in line for a table, we were told that a table would be available soon by the female staff at the entrance (later we found out she was the restaurant manager). 15 minutes later, we enquired how long we would have to wait as there was obviously some tables that were free. The manager got upset and said that we were rude, even telling us that she didn’t need customers like us in here (we were a group of 9 including small children). When I wanted to make a complaint, I was told to speak to another manager behind the bar. He told me whatever his staff had said to us, she must have been right as she runs the restaurant and decides who gets a table. We were appalled by the rudeness of the staff and the non existent customer service. Do not spend your money in this place as it’s...
Read moreAfter a very chill (haha) day of playing in the snow on Mt Buller, we HAD to go to the summit and eat at Spurs. It was an incredibly busy day and sadly some of their business infrastructure was non functional. Despite that, the workers were diligent in explaining the situation and coped very well. After a bit of a wait (honestly only 15 mins) their docket system was up and running and we ordered food. The bar attendant (who I assume was probably floor manager also) was prompt and lovely, despite the stress he was under. Not long after ordering, the food arrived! It was exactly what we needed, hot and hearty.
Tldr; despite a very stressful situation that day, it was handled brilliantly by the very charasmatic and attentive staff. A perfect end to the fun day...
