Disappointed and Confused – What’s Happening to Tyrol?
As long-time residents of Mt Buller – over 40 years and counting – Tyrol has always been a cornerstone of the mountain experience. Much of that has been thanks to Jimmy, the heart and soul of the restaurant. His presence and passion have defined the high quality and warmth of Tyrol for decades.
This season, however, things have taken a turn for the worse. First, Mt Buller Ski Lifts (the company managing the resort) announced Tyrol would be open for the season. We were thrilled to see it operating and even managed to have lunch there – a rare joy these days. Then, without proper explanation, it was abruptly closed again. No clear communication, no transparency. Just confusion.
It's unclear whether the issue lies with Mt Buller Ski Lifts' management decisions or whether Jimmy, understandably aging, is stepping back. Either way, the outcome is frustrating and deeply disappointing for those of us who live here seasonally and rely on the consistency and soul of places like Tyrol to make Mt Buller feel like home.
Instead of worrying about who might be speaking out, perhaps Mt Buller Ski Lifts should focus on clearer communication and more responsible planning for the future of this mountain. We feel let down, and frankly, taken...

Our group of friends love it so much, it's a running joke. I tend to split the prawn Linguine with my wife and also share either the Steak or Chicken Sandwich....
