Dined this evening with another couple.
Food was average at best, pasta was dry and covered in B grade parmesan with no taste, I had to put oil from the bottle on the table to give it some moisture…my fellow diner had the same with his pasta dish.. The potatoes in chicken dish had clearly been cooked days before and reheated. Chicken was tasteless and the prosciutto tasted a little funky, maybe on the turn… Homemade ice cream was very good though and for that I gave the second star...
Whilst the service was quite good we found a very strange arrangement with the service of drinks..a lovely waitress came to take our food order without a mention of drinks and we had to ask... We were then advised that we would need to go to the bar and get our own drinks..this seemed at odds with the standard of restaurant, considering they were offering wines up to $350, and it was not a pub type setting..
When we questioned another young waitress, she said she was not quite sure of the reason for this drinks arrangement but thought it had something to with the age of the staff (ie being under 18 and not allowed to serve alcohol) That being said, our food server was clearly over 18 and I assume could run drinks. To further blow that theory out of the water, our friends ordered affogato with Frangelico ( an alcoholic liquor) for dessert and this was promptly delivered by our young underage waitress…
When I approached the manager at the end of the meal to offer feedback, ie id I was paying $350 for a bottle of wine I would definitely expect that it is delivered, opened and poured at the table by the wait staff. I was pretty much brushed off and told that the service works well for them and that he would have to employ more staff to be able to run drinks.. He also pointed out that it is a government requirement that staff under 18 are not allowed to run drinks. Fair enough however when I pointed out the Frangelico example and he seemed disinterested.. Not a place I would...

Rinaldos Casa Cucina in Wangaratta is nestled within the walls of one of the city's original art deco buildings. Once a local garage, it has been transformed into a beautiful trattoria-style casual dining space that captures the essence of Italian home-style cooking and a love for seasonal local produce.
From the moment we stepped inside, we were impressed by the warm hospitality and charm of the Italian farmhouse-inspired dining room. The space is adorned with touches of art deco, creating a unique and inviting atmosphere.
We indulged in super tasty duck arancini entree and thoroughly enjoyed their delicious pizza, prepared in the wood-fired pizza oven at the front of the building. We quickly felt a connection to the rich history of the building.
If you prefer to dine al fresco, head to the heated terrace area overlooking the Ovens River precinct. At night, the terrace comes alive with the enchanting glow of fairy lights, creating a magical ambiance. A definite highlight!
Rinaldos Casa Cucina is more than just a restaurant—it's a celebration of the local area. It’s evident they are passionate about showcasing the best of Wangaratta, the King Valley, Milawa Gourmet Region, and the surrounding areas.
With a providore section and tempting gelato bar at the front, Rinaldos offers something to please everyone. A super tasty meal that didn’t break the bank. We’ll be...
Read moreWould avoid. To begin with any quality restaurant (especially an italian one) worth it's salt would offer complimentary bread to begin with - no signs of anything of the sort so immediately alarm bells are ringing. It's between lunch and dinner service so only the pasta menu is available, totally fine as I understand how it is in hospitality. The pasta I ordered however, looked/tasted like it was made in about 10 minutes from a jar of 5 brothers pasta sauce, a coles sausage chopped up with some pre-grated packet parmesan cheese on top. The dish was more like a soup than a pasta with the amount of liquid it was served up with - any good pasta sauce should cling and coat to the pasta, not drown it. Honestly was one of the most disappointing meals i've had in recent times.
I would have voiced my feelings to the restaurant team if they had of cared to ask, but there was no such enquiry made when settling the bill, simply collecting our cash and seeing us out.
I'd rather go to the McDonalds up the road, at least the disappointment costs you less.
To be fair my partner's gnocchi with ragu was better, but still not great (pre grated packet parmesan once again), which is why it's a 2 star rating and...
