On entering and being "Greeted" by what we thought was a customer ! And told Oh just sit anywhere we ought to have walked right out but gave it the benefit of doubt. Waited a minutes for even water to be placed on the table even thoughit wasn't busy . We placed our order hesitantly. I asked for extra garlic in my order only to be looked at very strangely? Is this an Indian resturaunt open to serve paying customers ? Is asking for extra garlic an odd request !!! In Scotland this wouldnt be a chore it would bea pleasure in a "proper" resturaunt . Food arrived and was at best passable although it was hard to discern if it was chicken or some other meat !! And oops NO GARLIC ! My partner finished her meal before me and believe it or not her plate was taken away NOT ON I've eaten in many fine restraunts in my years and never ever had this done.. Your serving staff stunk and my partners onion salad side sliced red onion sprinkled with pepper does NOT constitute a salad. This place is a shambolic mess staff rude disinterested not even a glance at us when paying the bill or so much as a thank you!!! We won't be back and would recommend McDonald's over this joke . We hope people read this and take heed We were disgusted !!! One star only for our...
Read moreVisited the 'Gate a few times over the past few years for their lunchtime special, and have never come away anything but satisfied.
As per every other review I place that has anything at all to do with food, "I'm no foodie, so I won't try to provide a portion-by-portion breakdown of the food" commentary here, but, as an Anglo bloke who likes his food, and has a very, very soft spot for Indian food in particular (no idea where that comes from, BTW), I find the tucker in the 'Gate excellent. It's indian, and served - I guess - to suite this dude's reasonably mediocre palette.
And, about the lunchtime special. You'll take away just over a couple of bucks change from $15.00, that gets you a couple of curries, some tasty naan-bread, beaut chutney and popadoms. Very good value, and I've never left the 'Gate after the lunch without thinking that I've enjoyed a very, very valued experience.
(But to repeat: I love indian tucker, so perhaps I'm showing too much bias towards indian food outlets).
Anyway, that's the way I see things WRT the...
Read morePathetic Food coupled with an even more Hopeless Customer service. Placed an order for a Family Pack Biriyani and ended up receiving an order which was their version of Family pack without any thing that we originally ordered. Surprisingly when we took up the matter with the restaurant manager and staff, they had the audacity to tell us that we placed the wrong order and wouldn’t even bother hearing us out. What tops it all is the restaurant staffs lack of basic customer service etiquette and knowledge of the menu being served. Though to get some consolation with the food that was provided but unfortunately that was a dead end as well. The food was undercooked and the gravy provided was just water with some masala. Wouldn’t recommend this restaurant as there is zero value for money and you will be faced with arrogance from staff and bland food. Hopefully this review will reach the owners and they will be able to provide some sales / customer service training to...
