Victoria Hotel Warrnambool — Restaurant in Warrnambool

Our first negative review, but unfortunately, it had to be done. We chose this pub based on the reviews and wanted to support local businesses.

Upon arrival, the exterior didn't seem very inviting, but we ordered two dishes (beef schnitzel and salt and pepper squid). The beef schnitzel arrived completely burnt, and while the squid itself was decent, the only piece I tried tasted like it had been cooked in oil that hadn't been changed for weeks.

We felt really bad about complaining, but there was no other choice. We were refunded for the schnitzel, but the salt and pepper squid was 'too popular' to be refunded. No big deal. We ended our night with great food at the Whales Hotel—good meals, good service, and...

Seemed OK when I first walked in for lunch, however the steak sandwich was a little overpriced (for lunch) at $20. I sat down and then to my horror I noticed packs of bugs flying around near the ceiling all throughout the bistro area. I'm not sure why they are there but there is obviously some sort of infestation. The steak sandwich was served on tough (pre-frozen? ) toasted bread with pretty basic ingredients. The reality was that no matter how good the meal was it wasn't going to make up for the swarms of bugs flying around, and with every bite wondering if they were adding to the protein value of my lunch. If i could rate the vic hotel a no star i would on the 23rd of December i had a fall and the hole at the side of the pub is where i had my fall alot of people saw me have my fall and now i am off work because of my injury and the owners of the pub are very nasty bad experience for me never going back there and my partner is not welcome back there because i had a fall now everything has got nasty could of being a disabled person or a elderly person who could of fallen in the hole lucky it was me not someone else they need to fix the holes before someone...
