This establishment has had mixed reviews in the past. The recent reviews from the last couple of months were positive so we decided to give them a go again. We ordered 2 seafood baskets at the counter right after the doors had been opened at 5 o'clock. 2 parcels were handed over after a short wait & we drove down to the harbour to eat our meals while watching the boats. When we opened the parcels, 1 of them contained only chips & the other contained the fish bits, squid rings & the other items we had ordered as part of the seafood basket. I would have assumed that if you order 2 items from the menu that you would automatically get those items packaged separately? Not so apparently & this is what other reviewers have complained about in the past. Albany businesses seem to have a quirky way of doing things. The food was nice enough but I would not rave about it as others have when giving their opinions. This establishment posts its menu to a number of online sites, like Z Menu & Restaurant Guru as they also offer delivery to various areas of Albany. This online ordering trend is well established in the major cities. It was from one of those menus that I made my selection expecting that the Seafood Basket would contain a pineapple fritter as advertised. When I could not locate the 2 pineapple fritters which I was under the impression should be in the parcel(s) I re read the small print on the Z Menu site which of course says that the menu is for informational purposes only & the restaurant reserves the right to change items, & prices on the menu without prior notice! Why then would a business place their menu up there if they cannot reasonably stick to it? My advice to those wishing to order is to visit the premises in person, order your items & request that they be packaged separately. I should point out that I actually live in Albany & although it promotes itself as a tourist destination, some business owners seem to treat their customers with contempt with regard to quality, service, price &...
Read moreWe were visiting Albany during the New Year all the way from Canada and were pleased to find this little gem of a fish and chips. It was refreshing to find an enjoyable meal at a reasonable price in today's economic climate which doesn't lend itself toward eating out. Prices super reasonable and both fish and chip portions were huge. They are off the main area but worth the walk or drive to find so you aren't paying the touristy prices. Everything took a few minutes only because everything is freshly fried not reheated or refried. The place isn't glamorous but the food is excellent for fish and chip offerings. Super crispy and salty batter. Please note there is no seating to eat here just waiting seats for takeout. As visitors this was our only gripe as we hiked here from the beach. Definitely recommend giving them a try. Would be a repeat customer if I was ever...
Read more4.5 STARS This fish n chips are the best I've tasted in ALBANY, this far. Fish just melts in your mouth, chips cooked just right. Scallops are not deep sea but the round ones, that's my only downer, for here. Service is extremely busy. They always tell you how long your wait will be. One night we were told an hour and quarter wait, it's worth the wait Other wise go somewhere else. But when you know your fish n chips will be cooked just how you like it, you will be patient and wait. Great stuff guys. I've eaten fish in chips from all over WA and Victoria,(Vic, back in the 90's), and Definitely cooked differently. So in my book, up with the...
