The hotel looks great but the service is badly lacking. We arrived for a meal on Tuesday night so it was not too busy. My wife, brother and I ordered our meals just before 7 and it took almost 30 minutes before my brothers meal arrived (fish and chips). Our other two meals still did not arrive in the next 5 - 10 minutes and I ask the bar tender to find where our meals were. My brother had to eat as his meal at this time as it was getting cold. His fish look good but he said it was stodgy which can only mean the fish although deep fried was frozen so the batter was cooked but the fish inside was wet and not cooked properly. At the 45 minute mark our other two meals had not arrived and I was forced to ask for the manager and ask for a refund. The manager only offered an apology and I had to ask for a refund. In other businesses I would have been given a voucher to come back as well but nowadays the customer is just not looked after anymore. As we were walking down the stairs to leave my wife’s meal was being bought to our table but mine was nowhere to be seen. We told the waiter it was too late as we were leaving and he could only have a giggle over this. Generally most of the staff seemed disinterested in working and would rather be somewhere else. The price for the meals is too expensive as I could go to the Stirling Arms or the Rose & Crown just over the river in Guilford and get a better meal for less cost and have not been left waiting over 45 minutes for my meals to arrive. The owners need to get a rocket up the staff and have the managers provide better incentives to keep customers when there is a breakdown in the...
Read moreI had an excellent experience at the Bassendean Hotel and wouldn’t hesitate to give it a full five stars. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed, striking the perfect balance between casual and polished. The staff were attentive and friendly, making sure every detail of our visit was taken care of.
The food here is genuinely impressive. The menu offers a great mix of classic pub meals and more modern options, all prepared fresh and served generously. Each dish we tried was flavorful and well-presented, with the quality of ingredients clearly evident. I particularly enjoyed the balance between hearty options and lighter choices, which caters to all kinds of diners.
Drinks were just as enjoyable, with a wide selection of beers, wines, and cocktails. The bar is well-stocked and the bartenders are skilled at making both classics and creative drinks, ensuring every order hits the mark.
Facilities at the Bassendean Hotel are also top-notch. The spaces are clean and comfortable, from the dining area to the lounge, creating an environment that’s perfect for a casual meal, drinks with friends, or even a small gathering. Overall, this venue offers excellent service, quality food, and a great environment—definitely five stars in...
Read moreWelcome back old girl! The lengthy wait has definitely been worth it as this revamped and polished heritage hotel returns with a new vibe while retaining much of its old world charm.
To those who were regulars before the renovation, many of the old features have been retained, but brought up to date or restored in a clean and crisp way. The spaces are still familiar, but some repurposed and being put to much better use. The addition of a child friendly section with a playground will be welcome for many families, and it is cleverly adjacent to the hotel for those without kids in tow.
The food was excellent, reminiscent of previous menus in the types of offerings (as well as generous portions). Excellent selection of tap beers, although a few more local Perth brews wouldn't go astray in this setting. The wine list is similarly comprehensive.
We visited in the first weekend of opening so there were a few teething issues with service, but nothing that won't be ironed out with time and experience as the team gets up to speed. Kudos to them for making it through what must have been an incredibly hectic weekend.
See you on...
