What a pleasant surprise in Albany! Little Italy can easily rank among the best Italian restaurants not only in WA but beyond. And I visited many. First and foremost is food. When the waitress told me that they didn't have spaghetti and offered tagliatelle as a substitute for spaghetti marinara, I knew I was in the right place because that is the best confirmation that the pasta is made in the restaurant. And I wasn't wrong. Entree Stuffed mushrooms in a creamy basil and white wine fondue was absolute perfection. Tagliatelle with mixed seafood in In Blanco sauce is the best pasta I've ever had. Perfectly cooked, juicy and freshly made. The same goes for the Casarecci with pistachios and mushrooms in a creamy white wine sauce, basil, pistachios and parmesan that my wife ordered. The staff is extremely friendly, unobtrusive and efficient with a good sense of humor, especially the lady in charge of drinks. The entree arrived less than 10 minutes after ordering, we had just taken our first sip of wine, (excellent selection of local wines - Mt. Barker Pinot Grigio is highly recommended) while the main course arrived a few minutes after we finished the entree, 20 minutes after ordering. Perfect. The atmosphere is also great. Without too much light, quiet, discreet music - Italian canzones, huge front windows contributed to make the overall atmosphere and satisfaction with the food even better. In the end, what was fascinating to us was that the owner of the restaurant, a native Sicilian, is also a chef and that he prepares all the food himself in...
Read moreOn our visit to this restaurant in May 2024, we were left feeling utterly disappointed with our experience. The portion sizes were below average given the prices charged, and we found that the staff lacked attentiveness and failed to acknowledge the needs of the customers. The dishes we received were lacking in flavor, seemingly over-reliant on cheese without offering much variety in taste.
I cannot in good conscience recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a satisfying dining experience.
Furthermore, there was a mix-up with our order, particularly concerning the gluten-free pasta we had requested to be spicy. Initially, the order was confused, with three different pasta dishes, including a regular vegetable pasta, a gluten-free vegetable pasta, and a Little Italy Gnocchi with chicken, being incorrectly served to our table. To compound matters, the chicken pasta was initially devoid of the promised chicken, leading to it being returned to the kitchen. Upon its return, the pasta had been reheated with the addition of the missing chicken. The entire experience left much to be desired.
Even though the owner has responded claiming that they consistently satisfy their customers, regrettably, this was not the case for us. Our experience was truly...
Read moreI dined at Little Italy Saturday night with my family, I ordered Spaghetti Ai Frutti Di Mare, as I was eating my meal, I found a long hair in it, and it was a turn off, the waitress that served me told me that the hair was not from any of the staff, I noticed some of the waitress staff had long hair, my family members were witnesses to this, they only offered me a new meal, also recommend the Management gets sound proofing for the Restaurant, as it was very noisy inside, and I asked for a glass of wine, the waitress said sorry cannot help you we don't have a liquor licence, BYO only, also the food was over priced, every dish that my family members ordered with red sauce was runny, next time I go to Albany, I will go to coles or woolworths and buy pasta sauce in a jar and make my own. at least the sauce in the jar is nice and thick not...
