HIT and MISSâŚ! Our family have been coming to Mastro for a almost a year now. In that time, the pizza, pasta and starters have always been tasty and delicious (except for a one-off when the sausage/olive/feta starter was way too salty). Last night unfortunately, we had a disappointing experience. Firstly, we realised one of the key ingredients was missing from our sausage/olive/feta starter - the feta!!! It was a busy night and we were half way through so didnât mention it to the staff, but really, forgetting to add one of the signature ingredients??? We did consider that they might have run out, but then noticed the table next to us were served feta with their same starter, so they obviously just plain forgot⌠Secondly, the most disappointing issue was with the takeaway dessert (pizza with Nutella and strawberries) - after receiving it, I opened the box to check and found there were no strawberries. I showed the owner? who said they should have advised me when ordering that they had run out of strawberries. I advised that we were not advised and disappointingly, he failed to respond with any form of apology or acknowledgment of the issue. Regardless, they were still happy to charge us full price of $20 for a pizza base covered in Nutella - really, $20 for that??? At least offer to discount the pizza - with what is probably the most expensive ingredient missing. Overall a disappointing end to the night. Mastro serve some great food in a chic restaurant with good ambience, so it disappointing to experience these quality issues and poor customer service.    Read moreSorry to the owner for posting this, but it sticks in my mind, I still remember the burned cheese taste. Went here with my kid a couple of years ago (maybe 2022), looking around the resto, if you asked any of the other punters there at that time, I think they would have been happy, their pizzas looked fine, however, for whatever reason, the pizza maker lady completely burned our pizza, like really black. The waitress said something like "Is this ok?", and kind of put me on the spot, making some other comment about the oven having issues. I think she was quite inexperienced. In all honesty, why would you even offer that to a customer, if you burned it, then make another one, I have eaten a lot of pizza in many parts of the world. This was notable for being the absolutely most burned pizza anyone would dare serve to a customer. I should have just asked for another one or something, but I couldn't be bothered dealing with it. Have never been back, would never go back, there are plenty good pizza places around. I remember the pizza maker seemed quite domineering, so potentially the younger server was told to go try to pass off the dodgy pizza that the maker messed up on the customer or something. Ordered a pizza based off the online menu which differs to the paper menu in store. When I called back to notify them I had bacon on my pizza I was told bacon was clearly on the menu and it was my fault for not asking for it to be taken off. I then checked the online menu which definitely did not have that ingredient listed. Then called back to state there was a discrepancy in the menus. When talking to the staff they were rude and said it wasnât their fault or their problem as they donât control the online menu. There was no apology for blaming me or any accountability taken on behalf of the business to say they will follow it up to ensure the menu gets updated. We had to insist this problem of inconsistent menus should not be our problem and that they need to re-make our pizza, this was never offered.
In the end they made us another pizza after much aggressive back talk from the staff over the phone. I will not be returning.
Also incase they havenât passed on the message your online menu does not match your in store paper menu, should do this to ensure no mix ups in future. Screen shot below, no bacon listed on the...
