Had a really disappointing meal here last night. Food and service were really poor. Lovely building, really should be great local pub. Beer was good, really only positive. We were shown to a table, told of the various things that were not available, advised that the gluten-free option was Nachos, or the fish and chips, without the chips.... oh or the batter. No water offered, no wait staff came near after we ordered, food took ages. Nachos were burnt, top layer was welded together and inedible. 2 of us had ordered the pie, the meat and gravy was nice after the burned pastry lid was removed. We had requested mash and veg with the pie, the mash was barely warm, the veg all undercooked and also not hot. The ? local shark and chips was served with greasy, limp, lukewarm chips and a similarly unexciting salad. Unfortunately the person who ordered the fish, who has a fairly cast-iron stomach normally, had nausea and vomiting a few hours after eating. Water bottle was dumped on the table after we asked when the food arrived. The place wasn't busy, our half-eaten plates of food stayed on the table until we left, 5 other emptied tables remained similarly uncleared. 3 staff behind the bar, chatting mostly around the till. Our main impression was that they had very little interest in providing any sort of customer service above the minimum. Bit of a shame really, given...

What a great experience, The Earl of Spencer put on a awesome evening. The atmosphere was fantastic, the crowd were friendly and inviting. The bar staff were prompt and had a great knowledge of the stock on hand. The menu was on a double sided page and contained a great variety of foods, very reminiscent to the pubs in the UK. I ordered the Scotch Fillet with mushrooms, salad and chips. Despite the fact that the venue was full food came to our table very quickly. The meal was outstanding, steak was soft and cooked exactly as I wanted. The sides were great, fresh salad and crispy chips. At the end of the evening Albany had turned on the rain, a torrent was streaming down the main road. One of my guests has a disability and needs help. Out of nowhere a gent appeared with an umbrella and helped us get her to the car. What an absolute legend, a shame we didn't get his name. This kind act just finished off the perfect evening. So if you're in Albany and want a great evening out with awesome food and atmosphere then don't overlook the...

It was a little disappointing that the menu on the website was incorrect. But as we were already here, we chose from the options available.

The fish and chips were a hit, and the oysters were nice and fresh.

We were looking forward to a surf and turf and a prawn cocktail, but as they were no longer on the menu, we tried the pork trio instead. It wasn't bad but wouldn't order it again. The atmosphere was pumping and a great little playground out the back for the kids, and the free kids meal was a bonus. Staff were wonderful, all smiles and welcoming. Music was a little loud as I couldn't hear the person sitting across from me, but that's probably to be expected on live music night. Overall, it's not the worst place we have been lately, but we definitely won't be back on a live...

Wow, what a great pub. We almost got inside last time we were there but due it being one of the pubs hosting the Sea Shanty festival it was packed so we listened from the street and hatched plans for a return. Well we made it back there 4mths later on a Sunday afternoon.. great atmosphere and decor. Friendly staff and even though they were under the pump extremely efficient.. Food that we had was delicious, decent quality and fair portions.. Now the stand out was Rodger (guy singing and playing guitar) what a master on guitar. Played some old favourites including Dire Straits and Paul Kelly etc. now, have you ever heard anyone play the Dr Who theme on guitar or Johann Sebastian Bach, well Rodger can and with skill and ability. Worth trying to see him play anywhere.. Yep we will be back 😎

This is my second time to Albany for business in my new role, and the second time I have been to The Earl of Spencer for dinner. I will never go anywhere else and cannot recommend this place enough! The vibe is awesome, warm and cosy, nice and busy with the chatter of diners and happy smiley attentive staff who remembered my name! There is plenty of parking and heaps of tables. I feel incredibly welcomed and accommodated and of course the food and drinks are amazing too! Shout out to Chelsea and Pete and Cam for being AMAZING! I watch how hard they work and their interactions with all of the clientele both young and old, local and from afar, and without them, this place would not be the same! Thank you!! 🤩👍🏽💃🏽🙏🏼

This is now the best pub in Albany, after being run down for some time,December 2018 new owners have taken over and they have experience and know what you want and how to make you happy. This is now clean and fresh refurbished interior , indoor and outdoor seating available. Great food menu to choose from come in good size portions., Awesome beer and wine. Lots of local wine too. All reasonably priced, served by friendly staff. Central location, safe, family friendly atmosphere ( no drunken idiots ) with live music to listen to. Loads of parking within plus off street parking. Highly recommend this place 10/10
