We went to this restaurant two weeks ago and picked it because of the high ratings. We arrived a half and hour early, as it is supposed to be a restaurant and bar and we thought we would meet for pre dinner drinks. On arrival, we were told they had a private function so this was not possible. Surely you would inform your customers of this when booking. When we came back, we then had to wait on the footpath for fifteen minutes for our table. The waitress was of little assistance when ordering, informing us that the idea was to share plates, but not the size of the portions. Most this could have been forgotten, if the food met expectations, however while sort of understanding what they are trying to achieve, it just wasn't good. On a positive note the bread was excellent, the Charcuterie Plate and the olives were nice. The hash browns were made well, but by the time they were served with a cold topping were also cold and were also poorly seasoned. The filling in the prawn dogs had no texture and little flavour of prawn or anything else. The skewers again were not very nice or hot when served. The gnocchi were not good, I've been around enough Nonnas to know they are supposed to be light and fluffy and the sauce, this was probably the worst dish of the evening. The quails were cooked well, but the outside coating was not good and overpowered the delicate flavour of the quail. As stated, there was a private function inside with disco and in general people dancing and partying, which is fine , but not for people expecting a fine dining experience and as a result the floors of the restaurant were wet, slippery and unsafe with spilt alcohol. I wont actual describe what was being cleaned from the floor at the end of the night. When the owner was approached and it was suggested she should inform customers of functions, she wasn't too interested, saying well it is the festive season. I certainly wouldn't recommend this place and we won't...
Read moreTucked away in the heart of Wollongong this hidden gem that transcends the boundaries of mere dining and ascends into the realm of extraordinary gastronomy. From the moment we stepped foot into this restaurant, our senses were invigorated and our expectations were exceeded. If you are planning to stop by prepare to embark on an unforgettable journey of flavours that will bring you back to those childhood memories. Let's begin with the exquisite food that graced our palates. Each dish seemed well thought and full of love, each bite took me to a special place that I can’t begin to explain. The menu was a symphony of flavors, offering a tantalising fusion of Italian influences while paying homage to classic culinary techniques.
We had the crumbed zuchinni, fried burrata and pretzel to start and Damnn that was so good I could have had it twice.
As for the drinks, the beverage menu was thoughtfully curated to complement the culinary journey. From handcrafted cocktails that balanced innovative flavors to a wine list that celebrated the best of local and international vineyards, there was something to cater to every palate. The knowledgeable waitress guided us through the menu ensuring we made the right choice for our taste.
Last but certainly not least, the service was impeccable from start to finish. Read moreMy partner and I had our first night out since we had our baby. When we booked, we asked about a table with room for a pram, and they were accommodating with a spot.
When we got to the restaurant, that lovely lady who greeted us showed us to our table, she did ask if we could fold our pram up and tuck it away out the back but we declined that as we needed it next to us for the baby.
We were greeted by another lovely lady who was sitting by the bar, she definitely just wanted cuddles with our baby, not sure if she was the owner or not but all the staff knew her and she seemed like she was the owner.
We browsed the menu, and GOD, it looked amazing. We ordered the Beef Carpaccio ($25), Mini Crab Pies ($22), Cauliflower ($16), Crispy Portobello Mushrooms ($27), Pork Belly ($30), and Fig & Pomegranate Salad ($16).
Firstly, the food was all amazing, a little on the smaller size for what they charged you, but it was all still amazing. The highlight was most definitely the Portbello mushrooms, DIVINE.
For drinks we ordered, Burnt Butter Old Fashioned ($21), Espresso Mac ($19), and Lychee Mojito - Mocktail ($12).
The drinks were really well made, especially the Old fashioned. Amazing tastes and really hit the spot. I felt the Espresso Mac was a little too sweet and not enough espresso flavour but overall still nice, and the mocktail was well made and full of lychee flavour.
I didn't give a 5-star rating because of a few little points, and I'll list them here. Firstly the music they were playing was really really loud, we could hardly hear each other. Secondly the prices were alittle too pricey for what you got on the plate. Lastly, the way the food came out was far too split up. We understand they only just opened up recently, and they will only get better. So, we will most definitely be back.
Maybe without the...
