Recently opened on Corrimal Street, offering a meticulously crafted menu that brilliantly fuses traditional Japanese flavours with modern culinary flair. The restaurant boasts a cozy indoor dining room, as well as ample alfresco seating outside, perfect for enjoying a meal with a bit of fresh air.
We had the pleasure of trying several dishes, and each one was a hit. The Chicken Katsu curry was perfectly crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and came with a rich, flavorful curry sauce. The Saba shio, a grilled mackerel dish, was light and beautifully seasoned, while the Unagi hitsumabushi (eel over rice) offered a deliciously sweet and smoky flavor. The standout for me was the Oroshi pork loin Katsu, which was crispy yet juicy, paired with a refreshing oroshi (grated radish) to balance the richness.
Though there were a few minor hiccups with service — likely due to the fact that they’ve just opened — the friendly staff did their best to keep everything flowing smoothly. Small missteps with delivery of the correct menu items were quickly resolved, and I’m confident that these will iron out as the team settles in.
Overall, Katsu Tabi is definitely worth checking out. The food is fantastic, and I can only see it improving as they grow. Highly...
Read more6 of us for lunch today, we had never been to a genuine Japanese restaurant so I’m pretty sure we almost tried everything on the menu, it was all delicious we were not disappointed at all, even the range of beers & soft drinks was quite large and unusual - we had a lovely family lunch thank you 🤩 I need to add that since my initial visit my sister and her daughter have been and loved it & just this Sunday gone we took our very fussy friends who thought Japanese Restaurants were just sushi, they loved it so much they will be back soon. We tried almost ALL of their entrees and finished with some of their meal dishes - needless to say we have another 2 new Katsu-Tabi converts thank you to your...
Read moreKatsu Tabi was delicious and the old Japanese vibe inside is so cozy! We ordered the Pork Loin Katsu (Set Menu), Creamy Crab Korokke and Teriyaki Salmon (A La Carte). We ordered both the Set Menu (for the unlimited rice, miso soup and side dish) and A La Carte to share the katsu and salmon. Our only issue was that there was a bit of hair in the rice. But the unlimited rice was great, and the food and service was so good, we would bring our family back here to eat. To top it off, we ordered the Green Tea Mochi which is a must order here! Katsu Tabi is a hidden gem and tastes so much like Tonkatsu Enbinton...
