Having eating at this restaurant this evening I can safely say I will never be going back. The food was amazing when we were finally able to order but that was the only redeeming part of the evening. From the moment we walked through the door we were made to feel like unwelcome guests. Our reservation was lost and we were told to go down the back and they would get to us when they could. We set the table as no one ever came and no one ever came to get a drink order. We grabbed the chance to order the food when a couple of the soft drinks were brought over as it was beginning to become clear there was not going to be any service. As I said the food was the only redeeming part of the experience. The wait staff need to have a good look at their behaviour. I have never been abused by a staff member for asking that the air conditioner be turned on or asking for a table to be cleared. One of the waitress called my husband a f* ahole when we asked to speak to the manager due to the way she had treated us all night. As she had already attacked myself for saying that we just wanted my birthday cake so that we could leave as we were in a room that was sweltering and little to no air conditioning. At this stage half of the party left as we could no longer stand to be yelled at by wait staff. What then occurred was like a scene from faulty towers with wait staff screaming abuse, while the manager was trying to pull her away so that we could pay the bill and leave. I can safely say that I will never go back to this restaurant while the current waitstaff remain and I will be advising anyone in the future to...
Read moreMy experience at Happy Sun Restaurant was mostly positive. We had a group of 11, and were at first considering ordering a pack meal. The menu was somewhat unclear, as each pack stated how many people the pack is expected to serve, as well as a cost per person. We were unsure whether the cost per person was referring to the expected amount of people, or the real amount. As we had a number of children dining with us, it seemed very expensive to order the pack that serves around 10 people, then pay upwards of $30 for each person eating it, including children. We then decided to order mostly individual meals, with the family of five ordering five different dishes to share. The people who were just eating one dish found it to be a bit repetitive for the tastebuds after a while, as well as a large meal. We found sharing dishes is an effective way to order. A slight annoyance observed was that the small and large fried rices were almost exactly the same size, but the large was more expensive. This was somewhat annoying as the "small" fried rice was meant to be a whole meal for the young children, and they did not finish it, whereas the "large" fried rice, served with other dishes to the family of five, seemed quite lackluster due to its increase is price, but not size. Overall, however, our experience...
Read moreFirstly, great business structure. Drive through; buffet; & a-la-carte for different budgets. Food was fantastic. What made this 4/5 was the service. Saturday (05/11),young girl did not greet us warmly. Then when we advised what our booking was, she picked up menus and started walking towards table, and not suggesting to us something like , "follow me to the table"; expecting that we knew to follow her. We finished our meals and would have liked desert. After 15 - 20 minutes of waiting we had to ask, as not once did either two waitresses come over to check if we have finished and to see if we wanted something else such as drink or dessert. One waitress focussed on wiping down a table first instead of focussin on customers that were already there. I don't blame the waitresses, however believe that there should be better training. After my wife spent many years working in hospitality, she could see flaws in what they have been trained to do. Just some constructive feedback. But again thanks...
