Went here for a few cocktails and a quick bite in the lounge bar with my partner. Long Island iced teas were good, aranchini balls, wagyu dumplings and fried squid were delicious. They had a good one man band set up and the music was good. Service was exceptional. Will definitely be back to eat in the restaurant and make a night of it next time. Highly recommend
Update: Went to the restaurant side of the Rocks for dinner last night. What can I say..... Honestly for fine dining I was quite disappointed. We started with the quail which was cooked well and had a nice flavour but was not worth the price for the size of the meal. Then we chose the steak fillet with mushrooms. Cooked medium rare as requested but nothing special there as far as flavour. I've actually had nicer steaks in a pub setting. You had to by the sides separately and we were told by the waitress that the sides were for sharing not much to share when you only get 6 carrot slices. No greens at all just options of potato or carrot. The service was lacking as we had to wait to be served & then wait for our drinks to arrive. During our wait the waitress actually came back and asked if we'd like another drink to which I responded we'd like the ones we'd ordered first. I have eaten at many fine dining restaurants in the past and this one doesn't come close except in price perhaps. Not what I would call fine dining. Only thing fine about it was the outlook over the lagoon. Probably wouldn't eat in the restaurant again and would stick to the tappas...
Read moreRolled in at 6pm on a Sunday night without a booking and we were well catered for (2 x adults & 2 x kids). Lovely setting and outlook with prompt service with kids meals out with the entree of flatbread for the oldies, however on delivery was advised they were out so given a small sourdough roll cut into quarters, complimentary which was what is should of cost - nice with the house cured butter & smoked salt, but tiny. My main of grilled coral trout with woodear ‘shrooms (though doubt they were - see pic), sea herbs and koji beurre blanc was just a bit over but delicious, albeit again a small offering. The bride’s main of rump cap was almost to perfection. My only gripe was the small selection of sides (spuds, tomats or cauli - we were chasing greens ideally). Dessert we shared the soft chocolate tart with pecan praline and burnt gelato, a great finish to the meal. Overall an enjoyable experience washed down with a couple of bottles of rose and would return. Just the one point off really for small serving sizes, premium pricing and what could be seen as a limited menu… I like concise menus, maybe just a bit...
Read moreTable of 6- put by the kitchen no view even though plenty of tables available and we booked in advance and for a birthday. Told you need to vacate within 90minutes upon sitting down. Ordered starters, mains had no time for dessert as we were still finishing mains to be told "you have 5 minutes left" obviously we did not or get asked if we wanted dessert. Whilst the food was good everything else was a let down. Although the salad had zero dressing. An oversight perhaps but if I have rocket I want at the bare minimum French, Italian or balsamic vinaigrette. Upon paying the bill the host asked how everything was - our response- well we didn't get dessert. He (host) said we are a very a busy restaurant you are welcome to have desert in our cafe. Umm no it's ok. We saw all the empty tables and know how busy it was. Whilst they advertise fine dining this is definitely not it with cocktails served in plastic glasses and only 1 vegetarian option for main- gnocchi, all meals coming out separately and paying $400 I expect the option of being able to have dessert. Will I...
