My family and I dined here on the last night of our holiday in Queensland to celebrate my partner's birthday. Best decision we made the whole trip. First the constructive criticism...Dining outside was lovely but keeping the umbrellas up at night cuts down on the light. At first it was too dark to read the menu but they did bring out some table lamps which helped a little but also cut down on the available area on the table and we were a large group. So not a great start. The staff were very helpful and I can't fault their effort to assist. The only other concern was at the end. No split bills! Each of our group standing next to the manager and paying for what they ate was a bit...clunky. And when the total was in the $1000+ range expecting one person to get the tab and reclaim money isn't an option (for me at least). But that is it for the bad. The food was astonishingly good and if their sous-chef isn't the highest paid person in the kitchen they/he/she should be! Across our 11 diners we covered everything from the seafood to the pizza with some lamb and beef cheek ragu thrown in. All of it was as good as anything I've eaten in the best resteraunts here in Melbourne. But the Sauces were the the biggest winner. The cauliflower puree under the scallops left me looking for other things to get the last little bit out and the sauce on the scallops which came with the seafood platter was even better. Over at the ribs plate I couldn't stop stealing my sister's dinner for the red wine jus. The dipping sauces that came for the prawns and calamari battled in my mouth to make me pick a winner between them. But even without sauces, the meals and sides were just amazing. The duck spring rolls were a massive hit and the pumpkin with chilli was so good I ordered a second dish. It would be astretch to find any fault with the food. The fish may have been a tad dry but you always had a sauce to liven it up. As I said before the staff were really helpful and attentive (almost to the point of me saying No, for the 100th time, I really don't want another drink!). Which reminds me, the cocktails were pretty good too. I've never had a whiskey Sour made with Jim beam before and I didn't have high expectations but it was actually really good. The wine selection was also excellent and the Yarra Valley drop we had made us feel at home. Overall I have to say the food overcame all minor issues and this was a proper 5 star meal.

Vue Bar & Restaurant Sunday 15th September 2024 Entree” Scallops Ginger butter sauce * 4 scallops On shell * Spring Onions bits on top. Black sesame seeds sprinkled. * Scallops clearly frozen. Inside beautifully translucent and melt in mouth. Some edges chewy. 1 bit (That holds the main body to the shell) was inedible. * GINGER not even a whiff. Just none. So basically I had poorly prepared scallops with butter spring onions sauce. * That said it is an okay dish. About 6-7/10 depending on your preferences. Main Butter Chicken. Rice Papadam & Nann * Chicken excellent juicy delicate cooked perfectly. Rice good. Sauce sadly lacking of spice. There is just a hint. I added some salt and pepper which did bring out some more spice. But overall it’s lacking its buttery spicy kick. * As a stand alone dish it’s very very good. I’d say 7-8/10. A bit more spicy or perhaps chilli it would almost be perfect. * Now I’ve revised my thinking. The sauce after 2/3 in, it lingers on the palate. It’s is delicious well made no doubt with hints lime and some spice. * It’s is very very good. I love the depth of the flavour it swims around all the taste buds. * So if you’re in Yeppoon in need a a very good curry that’s is not too hot or over the top. I highly recommend Vue’s Butter Chicken. Yum. Vue has a great vibe to it. You can sit inside or outside. Inside the atmosphere is really nice and bar in the middle etc. it’s a great place for food. I like the menu. I am very particular about my seafood. Thus the comment on the scallops. I was going to have the seafood linguine but didn’t think I could finish it. It reads very enticing I will let you all find out for yourself. I am hoping that I have written this in a positive manner not negative. A few suggestions and well chewy scallops are just that. I should point out the staff are very good personable and great to deal with.

We visited Vue for dinner to celebrate our anniversary. The restaurant has a beautiful look and feel. I love their menu presentation, so beautiful. There was nice music playing to add to the atmosphere. The staff were perfectly attentive. We were seated within two minutes of our arrival and the flow of staff interaction from that point was really well timed and very friendly. The wait staff all seem quite young but are obviously well trained. There is an open kitchen so you can practically see your food being prepared which I really enjoy. We shared the cheesy garlic bread for entree which was certainly cheesy. It has a luscious bruleed cheesy mozzarella topping and a subtle garlic flavour. For mains we both chose pasta. I had the seafood linguine and my husband had the pasta carbonara. They ask if you wish to have the cheese on the side or top which I thought was a nice touch as some don't appreciate cheese and seafood, I love the combo. My pasta was well cooked with a good amount of seafood and just a touch of chilli. The only downside of the night was the dessert which was disappointing for $17. We had the gooey chocolate chip cookie. It did not match my expectations. It was two warm cookies on a plate with ice cream and a sauce drizzle. The description was a peanut butter butterscotch sauce and praline. We had no praline on our dish and the peanut butter flavour was not present. I also enjoyed a coconut mojito which was perfection. I loved the flavour. All in all we had an enjoyable night.

Cocktails were nice. Food? Can't tell you because we waited for 1.5 hr after enquiring on our order several times only to be told it was "not far off". After waiting from 7:30pm to 9:00pm and no ETA on our order, even though people were starting to finish their meals and leave, we just paid for our drinks and left. Very disappointing to have to wait that long and get no updates from the staff, who were polite and friendly enough, but not too interested in keeping us happy. I can see from previous negative reviews that Vue's approach is to blame the customer and declare that if the reviewers name isn't in the booking system then they assume it's a fake review. At the risk of stating the obvious, it is possible to be a diner but not the person who made the booking.

Edit in response to your reply: Thank you for your excuse. Yet again consistent in your response that you did everything right, everything was outside of your control, and there was deadset nothing you could've done to handle the situation better. Remember how I wrote how we had no ETA on the meals? The second time we asked the waitress how far away our order was, she went to the kitchen and came back with "not far off". When asked how long specifically, i.e. 5 or 10 minutes, the waitress's response was "probably a bit longer than that". Couldn't give us an ETA. So we decided to leave. If the order was ready to be plated at 850, this is not what we were told. BTW my Google timeline puts me at Vue until 8:58pm. I see you think I've never experienced a busy a la carte restaurant before but I can assure you I'm no stranger to busy restaurants and have waited longer for meals. The difference was proactive staff notifying of delays, sometimes complimentary drinks (not that I'm looking for freebies), and reassurance that we are being looked after. Managing expectations is a basic of customer service I would've thought. Having a busy night is a restaurant's problem to manage, not the customer's. So you think 1hr is an acceptable time for a diner to wait without being updated? Ok then. The wait time is understandable (if communicated appropriately). The response of the staff on the night and the response to the review tells us all we...
