In all honesty, I don’t really know what happened to this place. The food quality has seemingly tanked since my last visit. As a group we ordered a handful of things and our order was mostly correct, but was missing some vital things.
We had ordered a prime rump requested at well done with mushroom sauce and a calamari topper. It came out almost charcoal and just about burnt. It was very dry and was missing both the sauce and the calamari that we paid for.
We also ordered 3 salmons at varying temperatures with the same sides (except one) and all but one came out cold in the center. The salmon dish that had the different side came out with the same sides as the other two.
Alongside this, we ordered two chicken dishes, a grilled chicken and a chicken schnitzel. The schnitzel ended up being quite tasty but the breadcrumbs were overcooked and it was hard to bite through. The grilled chicken honestly didn't even seem like grilled chicken, it felt more like a glorified roast chicken with grill marks. It was dry, the skin was rubbery, and not very nice. The mashed potatoes I ordered alongside this did not taste very nice and it did not help that the salt shakers at the table I was at did not really dispense much salt. One of the salt shakers was also filled with rice, I don't really know why this is done but it just felt kind of superfluous.
The only real redeeming factor of my night in terms of the food was the bacon and cheese garlic bread, which continues to be the best item on the menu. The bowl of vegetables also continue to be one of the best sides.
Other then the food, the waiting time was just okay. I believe it took 40 or more minutes to get 6 dishes to the table and about 30 just for garlic bread. The long wait was not helped by the very loud trivia night performance.
I have nothing against trivia nights and find them quite fun to listen along and try to guess with the people I am eating with, but this one was not great. The presenter was there because the usual presenter wasn't present due to illness which is okay but it didn't help the performance at all. The speaker at the front was configured to be way too loud and the way the presenter talked into the microphone made it a lot louder then it needed to be. The music section of the trivia was excruciating because not only was the music way too loud, but also the presenter also played chiptune (8-bit music as he called it). It's weird to hear this sort of thing from me since I actually quite enjoy chiptune and listen to it regularly but there's a thing about the square wave that the presenter needs to know: It hurts really bad when you play it loudly. It also didn't help at all that in quiet sections of the music, the presenter turned up the speaker which only made it worse.
Once again - I have nothing against trivia nights, but the execution of the one that was happening while I ate was below par and made it hard to talk to the people at my table.
Other then that, some other good parts to this place are the ocean view you get from any table in the restaurant and friendly staff.
If you're not looking for an entire meal, I would recommend this place - especially if you are coming here at lunch. Otherwise,...
Read moreHaving travelled from Brisbane to visit my sister and brother-in-law I was excited to take them out to lunch before returning home. The experience was a huge disappointment. When ordering I was informed that there would be a wait of 1 hour for food. After checking with my loved ones I ordered for us. We started to get concerned after 1 hour and 30 minutes. We had exhausted our people watching capability, so much inappropriate clothing and so many pairs of rubber thongs that I started to think we had warped into public bar of some cheap pub, where we would have invariably already received our food. After a few more minutes I ventured to the counter and enquired about the ETA of our meals. My enquiry was met with an apology and the advice that it would be 15 more minutes. Our meals arrived nearly 2 hours after ordering. I had the garlic prawns which were good and an appropriate serve for the price. However, the chicken on the burger had been dehydrated not chargrilled and the burger sucked all he moisture out the mouth of my brother-in-law, and i paid $25 for that privilege. The chargrilled pineapple and chicken salad also $25 looked as though the chicken had been replaced by croutons. It took a few moments to realize that the dried cubes were the chicken. The pineapple was NOT chargrilled, it came straight out of a tin and chicken that small could not have been chargrilled, it was obviously overcooked in a pan. The wait staff were lovely and full of apologies for something not at all their fault. Management and the head chef have done an appalling job and really need to revise their procedures and practices. Regardless of the beautiful location, appropriately priced good food, needs to be provided. It was a memorable experience for all the...
Read moreVisited this club on 31st July 2017 as we were staying in Yeppoon. I wanted to have a steak as the area is known as the beef capital of Australia. Unfortunately it was a Monday night so quite a few eateries were closed so our choice was limited. The Motel owner had actually suggested that we should go to one of the local pubs as they do a great steak but after checking the menu I decided that the rib eye at the club was going to be better than the rump at the pub. I rang the club to book a table and to confirm that the steak was locally sourced and was, in fact, rib eye. I was assured it came from a local butcher and was definitely rib eye. Into the club and ordered a medium rare rib eye. What I got was a medium (at best) lump of rump! Big indication that it wasn't rib eye was the amount of gristle left on my plate at the end of the meal. And this all cost me $37!! What a rip-off! The rump at the pub was about $20!! I accept that I should have sent it back but I did not want to make a scene - silly me. All round a very disappointing visit to the beef capital especially seeing the trouble I had gone to to ensure that I was going to get a great steak! Probably the most expensive rump I have ever...
