Bäckerei Café Felzl — Restaurant in Vienna

FELZ at Pilgramgasse. Is it only me, or has the quality gone down considerably, while the prices have have been going up steadily? Sunday 26/10 fifteen minutes before closing time: nothing left, except for a handful of dry, stale "Weckerl", Semmel, one hard/over-baked (or yesterday's?) Käsestangerl, and 2 employees too busy cleaning up. ANKER, though highly industrial, has FRESH bread from THE SAME DAY until closing time. I, for one, am not shopping at Felzl any longer. Neither are many disappointed customers from this page. If ant stars are left they are from several years ago or by one-time lucky tourists. BILLA and SPAR have better quality and freshness for a third of the price. And, kindly spare me a "copy and paste" generic comment. I sense the situation: you have expanded and no longer care about quality, staff competence, let alone friendliness, or simply, your clients' wishes...

May at 0825. I asked for an extra hot latte, knowing my last coffee from here was warm. I was served a 'extra hot' latte and upon starting to drink it, it was again warm. I asked for it to be made hotter and was told 'NO'. I still can't get my head around the depth of rudeness throughout the Austrian service industry, If you want an excellent coffee in a relaxed environment head to Balthasar on Praterstrasse in the 2nd district. We really liked this small cafe close to our hotel. They had a great selection of delicious pastries and sandwiches, along with hot drinks. We went there for breakfast all three days we were in Vienna. The seating area is quite small, so you might want to get takeout or wait for a table.
