Just atrocious all the way around. The fact that they segregate obvious tourists from the locals should have been my first clue. My second clue should have been that we were in full view of the service area and the whole scene looked like a Three Stooges film with the waitstaff struggling to have a clue. We waited 30 minutes for our first dish which was literally inedible. I think I’m all of my years eating out, it was the first time I had to send a dish back. Larb Gai does not ever have gravy. It does, however, have lime juice and mint, both of which were missing from this pile of slimey (yes, slimey) hot pulverized chicken. Usually, I am pretty forgiving but this was not acceptable and the manager’s response of “this is Thai food for Austrians” did exactly zero to solve the issue. The rest of the meal wasn’t great - the massaman curry tasted of peanut butter, sweetened coconut milk and cornstarch and the beef stir fry had so much canned bamboo shoots it could have been called “Hot Bamboo with Cornstarch thickened Soy Sauce, oh, and some second grade beef”. No one ever came to our table to see if the food was ok. I eat a lot of Thai food in a number of different location; some good, some bad. This was neither. I wouldn’t even consider it food. Maybe this is what Austrians...
Read moreI booked a table for 4 which wasn't ready when we arrived. a very unfriendly waiter told me we could sit downstairs instead which we did but it turned out to be extremely cold since the table was right in front of the entrance. the waiter didn't show up for at least 20 minutes and kept us and other guests waiting. when i asked him if the other (original) table was ready, he annoyingly rolled his eyes in front of me (not even kidding) and said he will check "immediately" - needless to say, he never returned. after 30 minutes i told another waitress about this and she was like "ah yeah, its the other colleague right, i know i know i i will tell him not to be like this" you could tell that she wasnt surprised about this complaint and she didn't seem to care at all. all together three tables were complaining about that rude waiter during our 30 min stay at bangkok, i really cant understand why he's still employed. i would definitely NOT recommend this...
Read moreI know my rating is very different from the ones posted here, but given that thai food is one of my favorite cuisines I felt the need to share my thoughts on this place. OVERALL: I noticed that the quality of my chicken in my Chicken Red Curry was not very high quality - it reminded me of the chicken you get when you order a noodle box from a street vendor - you know what I mean? Like it's chicken but there's something not quite right with it. About a half hour after eating here my stomach began to hurt very badly, but I didn't want to jump to conclusions that it was the food. The next day when I ate the leftovers, the same thing happened. Needless to say I will probably avoid this place given that it really upset my stomach.
HOWEVER, my incident may be an isolated event. The ambiance of this restaurant was very cute and the service was fine, albeit a little slow. Definitely make a reservation if you want...
