it was my second time in vienna because of before sunrise, a movie that changed my life, but this was my first time visiting the record shop. i would recommend that you do not fool yourself thinking that if you come after lunch it will be empty: it was not the case for us, it was pretty full although it is january! it is obvious that the shop is very famous, so many people visit it. we had a bit of trouble wandering around, but nothing too extreme. the people working at the shop were super super nice! i bought a tote bag and the guy (kudos to him! he was amazingly nice) working there gifted us a small vinyl and some stickers. i wish i could have talked with the owners more, but they were very busy as it was obvious. they let you listen to 'come here', which was one of the most magical moments of my life, as luckly there was no one listening to it when it was my turn and i had the chance to hear it at the same time as my partner. 100%...

I initially stopped here because I am a fan of Before Sunrise. Not only was I happy to find that the place is still in business, but that a) it has customers and b) has not become a "touristy" spot because of the film. I think this has mostly to do with lets face it, and I quote Mr. Hawke, "the films are the least [financially] successful trilogy". With that said, the owners are aware of the film with legacy, and have posters of the movie inside the shop, and they could play you the record of the song "Come Here". However, they don't have any for sale as it was a limited print. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about music too and will help you find whatever you are looking for. I got myself a Joan Baez record.

The place was made up of a nice mix of both tourists and locals, fans of the film(s), and those who have never heard of it.

As a vinyl record enthusiast, I visit these types of stores in every foreign country I visit. I learned that this store was especially famous after it was seen in a movie. For this reason, it was especially full of Far Eastern passersby. Most of them were there not to buy anything but to take pictures and share. However, there is a really wide record collection. They have 4 turntables with headphones. You can listen to and test the records you like here. Some of the records were in very good condition while others were in very bad condition, but their prices seemed not to be determined by this condition. The prices were a little more expensive than similar stores I visited in Vienna before. However, the width of the collection mitigates this situation.
