We were here for the restaurant week... a 3 course meal for €39.50 per person. There were a few tasty morsels sent from the kitchen before the meal started. We ordered the amazonese as an aperitif - a delicious cachaca infused prosecco with tonka beans. Delicious! The gorgeous, greek olive oil was spoiled by having an extreme amount of salt in it. On the whole, the food was super tasty with amazing flavours. But the main course was a Pincaha steak and was very chewy and some parts had gristle and were inedible. The whole piece was probably around 6 x 4 cms. The portions are very delicate and small anyway and I was left feeling disappointed. At some point the male waiter brought me a wine that was intended for another table. He seemed a bit mixed up the whole night and only speaks English with all guests ( considering most were German speaking). My husband ordered an expensive Krasto port as a digestive. Unfortunately, the same male waiter ( or head of house) decided to serve this with an insane amount of ice. We immediately removed the ice and told the waiter that we didn't like port with ice. His reply... some people find it too sweet otherwise. I suggested that maybe he should ask how one wants it served. He gave no apology and didn't offer to replace the drink. All in all, the cook is amazing, the flavours insane but we still left the restaurant after paying €150 inclusive of drinks feeling a bit underwhelmed because of...
Read moreThe whole experience started with a mistake: mine. I mixed up the date of the reservation, but despite this and an almost full restaurant the waitress has been really kind and she accommodated us anyways. The food is way better here than in the majority of the restaurants in Vienna in that price range and, possibly out of ignorance, better than what I was expecting from a Brazilian restaurant. The dishes look as delicious as they taste: we had an appetizer that were some fried chicken croquettes, hearty and rich. Then we got some chicken on polenta (really well cooked) and plantains gnocchi with pesto and cashew. Now, being Italian, I always cringe a little when I see experiments with Italian food because they often start from a lack of understanding about how to cook the basic recipe, imagine giving it a spin...but here it has been a whole different story: the idea of plantain gnocchi is playful and fun, and the sauce went perfectly with the the gnocchi. Thoughtful and precisely executed dish! I must say, I've checked the recipe for making this gnocchi at home. The drinks were really nice too. The price was absolutely fair. As soon as home, we reserved our next visit at...
Read moreAs someone who doesn't like adventurous food, I found the menu intimidating. E.g. what is fermented cassava juice reduction? why is there so much polenta? You could say, if you don't like hipster Brazilian cuisine, why come to such a restaurant? But when you are with friends/colleagues, you don't always get to choose. The one safe dish (I think it was chicken and potatoes) was sold out -- likely because many others like me wanted a dish with recognizable ingredients of known texture and flavor. I got the second safest dish, ribs with polenta, and my boyfriend got duck with rice. The ingredients were definitely high quality and the duck was cooked perfectly, but unfortunately, I knew I don't generally like shredded ribs (I was trying to avoid the fermented sauce in other dishes for health reasons), my bf's duck tasted like liver, and the polenta was grainy. I did like the cassava chips and my bf's rice.
My boyfriend and his colleagues who really like fine cuisine and good wine love this place. The service was amazing, the chef is really friendly and passionate, the food is beautifully plated, and the portion...
