I did not want to write this review. I really did not. I was hoping the problem would resolve itself but it hasn’t so now I just have to say it: the food is terrible. Like atrociously bad.
We live up the street from this place and when they opened during the pandemic I was their biggest cheerleader. The owner is American and I love the BBC establishment in the 9th. We frequented there often.
The food wasn’t so terrible in the beginning, but it has progressively gotten worse. I picked up a cheeseburger on the way home and a BLT (I originally ordered a pastrami sandwich which was so good, and while it still shows up on their online menu they don’t actually offer it anymore). Now I’m staring at the food we bought from BBC that we will not be eating.
The bread on the BLT is thin and pointless; the lettuce is wilted and soggy. It’s smothered in mayo so if that type of sandwich is your jam, this is the sandwich for you.
The cheeseburger tastes like old soup. I cannot get past the two bites I had of it. It’s really bad. The cheddar cheese I asked especially for it to come with tastes like plastic. I think the weird old soupy taste is coming from the meat. It’s just bad. But! It looks pretty! So if you like looking at pretty burgers, maybe this is your burger. I will not be eating more burgers from BBC again. This flavor has singed my tastebuds memory and not in a good way.
I was hoping that the quality and food preparation/combination would improve over time, but it hasn’t. The only reason to visit is for the beer; it’s not a place you want to eat at. Order your beers and look elsewhere for food because the quality of ingredients and the flavors...
Read moreWent for afterwork, stayed for the beer 😁 The place is decently styled, the waiters were good, fast, responsive and observant. The beers are nice but not awesome, food is tasty, portion sizes are decent. Price point wise I would say it's not exactly cheap but not the most expensive. It's worth to note that they serve 0.4L as large beer, so no "Krügerl". It might strike you negatively in the evening but it will pay off on the next day 🤠 Soooo would I come again ? Yes it think so, liked it ☺️ They also have a branch in the 9. District which is...
Read moreThis is a great little craft bar around 10 minutes walk from the Margaretengurtel station on the U4 line. Michael who was running the place is brilliant. Very helpful and knowledgeable about all the beers on tap. The Wandering Angeus (Black IPA) was the best of the ones we had but all were good. We shared Nachos to accompany the beers. They were great and it only took a few minutes. I can highly recommend this place. Thanks to Michael for his advice on the beers and also for his help with answering questions...
