Our visit to the Raimund Theater offered two distinct yet equally impressive experiences: a behind-the-scenes tour of the theater and a performance of the musical The Phantom of the Opera. Both are highly recommended for anyone looking to explore the magic of theater from different perspectives.
The guided tour was a thoroughly enjoyable and detailed journey through the inner workings of the theater. It provided fascinating insights into the sheer scale of the building, including how deep the stage area extends—truly impressive! The experience offered a glimpse into the complexity and collaboration required to bring a production to life. From the empty, quiet stage to the intricate backstage operations, it was awe-inspiring to witness just how many people contribute to such an elaborate performance. The opportunity to see the theater "empty" also added a special charm to the tour, giving us an entirely different appreciation for its grandeur.
As for The Phantom of the Opera, it is nothing short of a must-see. This iconic musical is a masterpiece, and the Raimund Theater brought it to life with exceptional production quality, breathtaking performances, and stunning visuals. Words can hardly do justice to the emotional depth and grandeur of the show—it’s truly a highlight and worth every moment.
Whether you’re a theater enthusiast or just curious to explore something new, the Raimund Theater delivers an unforgettable experience. Both the tour and the musical are well worth your time, and we can’t recommend...
Read moreGreat theatre, very friendly and proactive staff. They are hosting lots of great musical productions like Phantom of the Opera - the best purchase decision I've made in my entire Vienna trip.
Two feedback: The seat map on the ticket purchase is a bit confusing so you wouldn't know how bad your sight might be blocked by the pillars. Please be mindful of the black dots on the seat map as they are the pillars. If you want a perfect view, try to find a seat that is 3-4 seats away from the pillar (both horizontally and vertically). I bought €109 ticket but still got view blocked partially 🥲🥲 Also from my personal experience, the view from the mezzanine is fine but on the upper floor would be a bit too far away from the stage to see the acting. You can enjoy the music regardless where you seat tho.
The subtitles are on the two sides of the stage 🥲 so if you are an English-only audience, it'll be a bit difficult to navigate constantly from the subtitles to the stage and vice versa. If you don't want to miss too much of the acting, make sure you know the main storyline of the musicals so the subtitles are not needed too frequently; hence you could still enjoy...
Read moreWe attended a performance of “Phantom der Oper”, in January, 2025. Our impression of the theater was very positive, lines were not long for the coat check or during the intermission for the bathroom. We found the refreshments in the intermission to be kind of pricey, but that’s typical for Vienna I guess.
My wife and I were both very impressed with the quality of the singers and (as professional musicians) we were also very pleased to hear the high standard of musicianship and musicality that was brought to the performance by the musicians as well. The sets and costumes were also a pleasure to see and watch. A big “Bravo!” for all of those that made this production the sensation that it was!
I have only one criticism to add here, and it’s one that could be argued one way or the other. I found that the sound was for my taste, a bit over manipulated. A bit too much of the loudspeakers, and not enough of the original sound of the instruments that were actually performing during the show. The musicianship really was top-notch, and I would love to have heard more of what the musicians were actually doing as opposed to how it was be blended in...
