We arrived as a group of 18 people coming from a large nearby event. We went in, asked for seats, and explained that another group of about 12–15 people would be joining us. We didn’t know the exact number, since they were all part of a large organization and we had invited several people without knowing exactly who would show up.

In the end, the first group was seated, we ordered, and then the second group arrived. Instead of 15, they turned out to be 20 people – which, in most restaurants, should be considered a positive surprise. They were given tables by the first waiter, but then another waiter came over, extremely rude and unfriendly, and asked the second group to get up and leave just because they were 20 instead of 15 as originally mentioned.

We pointed out that the entire floor was empty, but according to this man, the simple fact that we had underestimated the number of people was unacceptable. He insisted we had to leave, claiming that other guests had reserved tables and would be arriving – yet when we left, as shown in the attached photo, the floor was still completely empty.

We cannot understand this behavior. Perhaps he simply disliked us because we were Italians. We even tried speaking in German (some of our group are fluent), but he kept repeating that since we were more than the number initially stated, we could not stay.

So despite the first waiter seating us, the second one forced us to leave, treating us extremely poorly. All this just because there were more of us than we first estimated – something that should make any restaurateur happy. Instead, this man behaved like a petty bureaucrat, inflexible and rude, and we were shown the door while the restaurant...

1 star for the food and interior, but no stars for the service.

As a tourist exploring Vienna for the first time with a friend, I stumbled upon this place as its quite close to Rathausplatz and Votive church. Unfortunately, our experience was rather disappointing.

We were seated with no explanation on how to order, the waiters and waitresses barely noticed us despite our efforts to catch their attention. After a 20-minute wait, a waiter directed us to wait for another colleague, which was pretty confusing. Another 10 minutes passed before I got up to ask about placing an order, only to be met with a rather rude response saying "this is a restaurant and we will come to you. We're not burger king or McDonald's". I was flabbergasted by his comment but chose to keep my cool.

The rude waiter took our order, but the subsequent comment made the experience worse.

When the food arrived, he made another comment saying "it's so fast it's like burger king, huh?" both he and another waiter laughed as they perhaps found the comment quite amusing but I found it quite distasteful. The schnitzel was warm and dry, and we weren't offered any condiments like the other tables.

When the bill came, they automatically applied the tip before informing us that the this had been added. My friend had to request for the tip to be removed - the waiter was shocked but complied.

Whilst the place was appealing and location is convenient, I would not recommend this place. The disappointing service and mediocre food outweighed its...

Thoroughly enjoyable place at any time of day. Good food and drink with great service. Lots of nooks and crannies for groups of most sizes to get tucked into.

We visited this place three times during the weekend we were in Vienna. After a visit on Friday to the Christmas Market at Rathaus, we found our way. It had been recommended and we went to try for ourselves before getting something to eat.

The service was good and we thought the drink was well priced.

After a very nice dinner at Marienhof (down the road) we decided to return here for a few more drinks. The atmosphere had changed, now it was buzzy and lively with great music being played. We had a few more drinks and stayed later because we were enjoying ourselves.

To escape the cold and take a break from walking we found our way here again on Sunday afternoon. We stayed for even longer. The server remembered our order from the previous Friday and was well attentive the whole time.

We chose to eat there and were very happy with the goulash soup and the...

Me and my wife went to cafe Einstein in Vienna/Austria, in the evening of Thursday Oct 20th 2022. As soon as we got in, we were WOW, just for atmosphere and ambience . A warm decoration and setting of elder years. Staff welcoming was good. We sat on a very corner wooden booth looking to street . To start my wife had a beef broth soup and me a goulash soup , accompanied by a very lovely green salad. Of course the bottle of red wine came on! Both soups and that salad were great ,It was a lovely experience! Only down point was our main dishes!!! My wife's veal schnitzel was not satisfactory, and my veal so to say steak was a large thin piece of meat buried under lots of fried onions and potatoes and a brown sauce .That meat was as dry as match sticks and made chewing an unpleasant burden !But I want to repeat it again it is a very warm and pleasant place . Will We go back? Of course yes.
