AVOID – A Tourist Trap Masked as Culture

The manager’s public replies—both here and elsewhere—are filled with fabrications and personal attacks. Multiple past reviews clearly show that he invents stories to discredit dissatisfied guests. His latest response about me is no different.

Let me be absolutely clear:

I never referred to €17 as “expensive”. That claim is a complete lie.

I never refused to pay—I offered to settle the drink tab immediately, even for items we did not order or consume.

I was chased in a public corridor, loudly accused, and humiliated in front of other guests. That is not hospitality. That is abuse.

I have lodged an official complaint with the Austrian police, as I consider this behavior unacceptable and degrading.

His German-language reply shows not only disrespect toward guests, but also the assumption that only locals will understand his misrepresentations.

Having stayed at 5-star hotels in Vienna and across the world, I can confidently say: basic courtesy should be universal. Yet this manager’s arrogant, patronizing tone—implying that I complained because I’m too “cheap” or “uncultured” to understand their customs—is disgraceful.

The artists were talented, but the management’s behavior destroyed any value the experience may have had. Insinuating guests are thieves or inferior reflects on the host, not the visitor.

🛑 My advice to any future guest who is treated this way: Do not argue. Call the police immediately. Do not let this individual insult or abuse you in public.

⚠️ If you expect even the bare minimum of respectful treatment as a paying guest—avoid this venue entirely.

Die öffentlichen Antworten des Managers – hier und an anderer Stelle – sind voller Lügen und persönlicher Angriffe. Zahlreiche frühere Bewertungen zeigen, dass er wiederholt Geschichten erfindet, um unzufriedene Gäste zu diskreditieren. Seine aktuelle Antwort zu meiner Beschwerde bildet da keine Ausnahme.

Hier die Fakten:

Ich habe niemals die €17 als “teuer” bezeichnet. Diese Behauptung ist schlichtweg falsch.

Ich habe nie die Zahlung verweigert – im Gegenteil, ich habe sofort angeboten zu zahlen, selbst für Getränke, die wir weder bestellt noch konsumiert haben.

Ich wurde öffentlich verfolgt, lautstark beschuldigt und vor anderen Gästen gedemütigt. Das ist keine Gastfreundschaft – das ist Übergriff.

Ich habe eine offizielle Anzeige bei der österreichischen Polizei eingereicht, da ich dieses Verhalten für inakzeptabel und entwürdigend halte.

Seine Antwort auf Deutsch zeigt nicht nur Missachtung gegenüber Gästen, sondern auch die Annahme, dass nur Einheimische seine Verdrehungen verstehen.

Ich habe in 5-Sterne-Hotels in Wien und weltweit übernachtet. Aber das spielt keine Rolle – Respekt und Höflichkeit sollten selbstverständlich sein. Die herablassende, arrogante Haltung dieses Managers – er tut so, als hätten wir nur deshalb reklamiert, weil wir “billig” oder “kulturlos” seien – ist eine Unverschämtheit.

🎭 Die Künstler waren talentiert. Doch das Verhalten der Geschäftsleitung hat den gesamten Abend zunichte gemacht. Touristen zu beleidigen oder als unehrlich hinzustellen spricht nicht gegen die Gäste, sondern gegen den Gastgeber.

📞 Mein Rat an alle künftigen Besucher, die so behandelt werden: Diskutieren Sie nicht. Rufen Sie sofort die Polizei. Lassen Sie sich nicht öffentlich beschimpfen oder beleidigen.

⚠️ Wer auch nur ein Mindestmaß an Respekt als zahlender Gast erwartet, sollte diesen Veranstaltungsort meiden.

This dinner and show is perfect for people travelling on a budget. You get a lovely 3 course meal of traditional Viennese flavours and a glimpse of Viennese Opera and dance. This is one of the cheaper dinner and concert shows and you get what you pay for. All other shows are double the price. The only disappointment was that the website said it included many songs from the Sound of Music which would have been an absolute highlight and instead there was only one song. The dessert could have been served a little better - certainly not photo worthy and was a little dry. Just a warning, there are other dinner venues within this building and you are caught right at the entrance to pay €3 to hang your coat. This review is divided into two parts: 1. The performance, and 2. The food. Overall, not worth the money because of the terrible food. The performance is very good and entertaining. The show is excerpts from operettas. The musicians are wonderful and the singers and dancers are very talented. They give you a good show. The food and service are one to two stars, at best. Not good Austrian food at all. The starter a variety of aufstritch, one of which had an unauthentic tortilla chip. The main consisted of an overcooked, tough beef roll.
