I changed my rating to make it fairer because the food wasn't as good as I hoped. Remember, giving a 5/5 stars is a big deal and we should think carefully before doing it.
Food is important to me and should be taken seriously.
I was excited to try Connolly's because of its high ratings, but the food didn't live up to my expectations. The fish & chips were too greasy and didn't taste good. The fries were just okay for Vienna, but not great compared to other places.
The spring rolls I had to start with seemed like they were made in a factory and cost too much, although they did look nice.
I thought Connolly's would be great because of its good reviews. My experience was different.
If you like fast food places like Burger King, which I think are okay but not great in Vienna ( a 2/5 from me), maybe it's best not to leave a review if you're not sure. It's hard to understand the reviews on this site, and it seems like people are confused about how to say good or bad things about food.
But what do I know? I just really love food and think it's not right when a restaurant that's not that great gets high scores on a big website. Something to...
Read moreA couple of our friends were already there (for a very short time) when we arrived, and left earlier than the rest of the group. They took the opportunity to charge some extra Spritzers that were not drunk by any of us, trying to convince us that our friend who had left drank 3-4 Spritzers before we arrived (while her husband hadn't even finished the first one). This was unfortunately not true, as confirmed by our friends. Although the pub looks nice, I would not go there again because of the service.
Later edit: My husband paid the entire amount for the table (including our friends' beverages) BY CARD and kept the cash that was left by our friends because he paid that money from his account, please don't make it look like he stole. 20 EUR is for sure not the full amount for 7 Spritzers, 1 water and olives, as you claim. But the way you reply to your customers here shows the quality of your customer...
Read moreThe staff were nice, and the food and beer was really nice. The chicken curry was lovely. Good experience overall.
Nevertheless, as an Irish person it didn't feel authentic. For instance, I would recommend not serving a drink called 'British Islands Ice Tea' or a 'British club sandwich'. The republic of ireland is not a part of the UK and you may upset people.
Edit: Seeing your response: It is not about politics, it is just basic common sense to try and keep any return customers from Ireland. If you are an Irish pub, then you should accurately represent the Irish people and respect our troubled history. I left two reviews because I thought it was constructive feedback and didn't know how to get through to you. Regardless, it seems you can't take criticism, even from the people you are trying to represent. I'm quite happy and peaceful thank you. No need for your passive...
