Went there for dinner, as soon as the server heard us speaking in a different language, he immediately turned VERY hostile and rude towards us. We were on the set menu since we had paid for the dinner and concert ticket for Schönbrunn and we asked to switch something from the menu for something else, as soon as the server heard that he almost immediately went “but its going to have an up-charge ”, repeated it several times even tho we very well knew that and didn’t even stand next to our table but was basically yelling from a few tables over. Not to mention the fact that other than to ask us from the start what we wanted to drink (didn’t even bring us the water we asked for even tho it was obviously his section) and to bring us the bill as soon as the dessert course was served. After he ignored us some more after, he came by with the pin pad and basically told us that we should tip him a “service fee” which started at 15-20%.
The food had very little salt and flavor, the side to the schnitzel was just boiled potatoes (with no seasoning, just boiled). The pastry on the desert was chewy and slightly raw.
What angered me most was the waiter’s attitude. Other than the pure ignorance and letting the younger server do all the work (the younger server was bringing out all dishes and was super professional, huge thumbs up for her), his unprofessional behavior was absolutely unacceptable and if he behaves like that with other people then he has no place in the customer service industry. I hope he hasn’t been behaving like that with other people because it was just horrible, especially the yelling across the restaurant like we can’t pay for our food part.
Overall, if you have the possibility, don’t go there. It’s...
Read moreThis was a great place for dinner! The staff that waited on us, was really pleasant! Now, let me get into it...the food! Everything was delicious! We ordered the Viennese Tafelspitz, which is prime boiled beef with vegetables and bone marrow (Stew), the Viennese Veal Scallop (Schnitzel), Veggie Burger w/potato wedges. We also had a side of potato salad and toppings to go with the stew. I'm telling you right now, the stew is 29 euros, but it was extremely good! I could have only had the broth alone! To me, worth every penny! The schnitzel, I'm just addicted to that! I can eat it everyday! Pound out thin, juicy and crispy! Yes Sir! My daughter had the veggie burger, but had to take it easy. It was a big burger and she got full before she could finish it. Everyone was completely satisfied. Now, we actually saved room for dessert because my husband, son and I, shared the stew and schnitzel between us (so don't over buy! They give you enough food to share, they will bring extra plates). The dessert was a Homemade Kaiserschmarren with plum compote. Now that was 11 euros and good! It's basically cut up pancakes with powdered sugar and compote fruit on the side. The only thing, if I may critique, it was a little eggy tasting. My husband had a dark beer and I tried the Spritz. It was totally different from what I experienced in Italy. It was plum in color and to me, it was a cross between a spritz and a sangria. If we visit this area again, we will definitely make the trip here to eat. Nice environment, friendly staff, and excellent food! Oh, it's better to make a...
Read moreWe came in and ordered 2 cups of tea and 2 pork schnitzels.
Tea: Served without a plate. We just put the teabags on the spoons that were served with it. Result: 2 big brown stains on the tablecloth. They just "threw"6 bags of sugar next to them.
Schnitzels: after almost an hour waiting I asked where our dinner was. They came back and told that the fryer was occupied most of the time. I was watching other persons in the meanwhile for the last half hour en saw that most of the people in the restaurant already left. Got the feeling that it was a lame excuse and they just forgot us. Be honest about it then.
Fries: Ordered some extra fries on the side. They were squishy and mushy and in several of them I could taste the raw starch. Told it to the waiter and said that we weren't going to pay for them. He kept insisting that they are fine, tasted one of our plates and told us that Mac Donalds served them the same way. I was astonished... I've worked myself in several (top) restaurants as a cook and sous-chef and never witnessed this before. Eventually they took it of the bill.
Bathroom: I think we just came in after the peak. But still, the bathroom was disgusting. There was urine all over the toiletseat and floor. I took some paper and cleaned it up myself. Also, and I'm not over reacting, I think there were standing at least 10 used toiletrolls scattered all over the room.
I've never left a negative review because I want to support businesses in a positive way. But this was really a big downer for the ending of a nice city trip...
