Fritz von Stuwer is a new-ish small cafe/lounge with a austrian retro living room feel in a quieter part of town so the crowd’s a bit more chilled out and mostly comprised of locals. Great atmosphere for 1 on 1s and small groups. The service by Walter and everyone is at times a bit cheeky, but in an extremely charming way.

For drinks, I usually go for the 1L (Maß) Budvar on Tap which is boring, but my favorite. For people who do not like downing 2-3L of fluids in an evening, they also make a variety of gin and rum drinks. The owner, Walter, who was behind the bar seemed very confident and even had fun recommending drinks amidst some friendly banter one time I went with friends who were delighted by the care and fresh garnishes that went into the drinks. Made the night very special. Moments like these in Vienna are very rare, even if you can afford to spend more on drinks.

In addition to the complimentary paprika crisps (neat!) there are simple grilled toast-type offerings for Food, which are nothing special or very instagrammable but yet filling and satisfying. I usually order them when it gets late and I had a few drinks.

The ‘Fritz von Stuwer’ is a relatively new bar in the 2nd district and quickly became one of my go-to places in the area.

The staff is friendly and welcoming, and they sincerely care about a good relationship with the customers.

People from diverse backgrounds and all age groups enjoy the peaceful atmosphere together. The music is relaxed, and the volume allows for comfortable conversation.

There is a terrace to sit outdoors when the weather is good and a cool retro-style ambience inside.

I saved this bar in my itinerary when we decided to visit Vienna! I knew I wanted to come here all the way from Houston, TX, because of the great reviews. I was not disappointed. This is the best bar we visited our entire trip (including Prague)! The owner is welcoming. He fed us food from his private party just because. He has an amazing song playlist in the bar (I stole many songs on Shazam), and he hooked us up with his famous house shots! We liked this place so much we are going back tonight!
