we were looking for some foods for brunch, and happened to pass this restaurant, so we just bought some foods for takeaway to be eaten in the playground in the nearby park (resselpark?). and IT WAS THE BEST DECISION!
Taste-wise: OH MY GOD THE ALMOND PASTRY IS AMAZING! ARGUABLY ONE OF THE BEST ALMOND PASTRY! the sweetness is just right, the almond cream is just on the right amount, not too much, not too little. the almond was thinly cut, very thoughtful! i have probably tried 40-ish almond pastries accross the UK and Germany, and it is one of the best! i had it when it was still very warm, fresh from the oven, so it elevated the experience! the falafel sandwich was a very good experience as well. just right amount of everything. the textures and flavours were just right. the butter croissant was okay. just your usual butter croissant.
Price-wise: We paid EUR14 for an almond pastry, a falafel sandwich, and a butter croissant for a family with 1 kid. So it was a very good deal!
This place is a burrito restaurant, though. Unfortunately we havent had the chance to try the burrito. However, knowing that their other side menus are so great and thoughtful, i think the burrito will...
Read moreWanted to like this place due to the good reviews, but unfortunately I really did not enjoy my burrito. The guinness beef tasted like soy sauce, which did not taste good and felt like a crime against mexican food (not to mention the idea of putting irish stew in a burrito in general). I got the orange-chile salsa but did not taste it at all in the burrito. The beans are mushy and flavorless, either cooked way too long and carelessly or taken out of a can. My partner ordered the chicken burrito, which was slightly better. The contents of both burritos were generally very mushy, which wasn't helped by the load of soggy cooked lettuce inside.
Real pity because the classic quesadilla was very tasty and the sauces we ordered separately were good, although I wish the habanero-lime salsa actually tasted like lime (habanero-carrot dressing feels a more accurate description).
Very disappointed, and very surprised that others...
Read moreThis review is for the bakery section where they serve coffee, sandwiches and pastries, not the burrito kitchen part. Coffee is good! Pastries are also very good except their red beet cake (but I hate red beet, so don't take my word for it). Their apple crumble pie was excellent. However, the reason I rated the bakery 5 stars are the sandwiches. At first glance, nothing special. Ham and salami baguette, €5.50!
However, one bite of their vitello tonnato sandwich explains the slightly higher price. The ingredients are obviously fresh and very high quality; even the bread tastes fresh out of the oven. The salmon sandwich with Wasabi and ginger lime is just as good, maybe even better than the vitello tonnato sandwich - hard to decide :)
Minus points: not enough tables and chairs, and you have to pay cash (no cards). Doesn't change my rating though.
So, if you want a sandwich - this is definitely one of the...
