Before the performance began, I googled and I did read some negative reviews saying it’s a scam or huge trap and it would definitely ruin our holidays and good moods, so I was a bit worried and yes indeed when I entered the room I felt a bit disappointed because of the interior design. It looked...not like what I expected or imagined...
But!
The performance was amazing and totally beyond our expectations!! They are so humorous and professional.
I like their interaction with the audience and we all enjoyed the moment listening to the music. Yes some people might say it’s not formal or as the traditional one and it’s way too casual or lose the tradition but we should remember one thing, that is, both the performers and audiences were delighted and had fun!
The performers enjoyed their show and I could easily felt their passion and enthusiasm and I believe everyone was infected by the atmosphere and we did enjoy it!
Every audience stood up clapping hands for them in the end and I felt so touched! Yes, some people might say the bad feeling all comes from salesmen and they all complained about the price. But I think 40 dollars sitting in the third row is fine and I don’t think it’s expensive
Don’t compare the show with those in Wien Operahouse. We should know their are different. You want the high-level one then reserve the seat at least one month ago and spend three times money then you will be seated enjoying the big show in the Operahouse.
As to the quality of salesmen, it really depends. From our experience, the man we met was sincere and honest and humorous. I don’t feel he lied to us all I would say is he is really a professional sales😂 he didn’t focus on telling us how big how gorgeous the hall is or how magnificent the stage would be instead he let us know the compositions played and the singers’ background. He even gave us two nice restaurants he highly recommended and when we paid money he didn’t have enough change so he directly gave us more discounts😅
Anyway, the performance is suitable for classical music amateurs and tourists with...
Read moreIt all started with one nice gentleman who offered to take our family picture. I was told by many to not buy any concert tickets from people who wore the customs. Yet, here I was, enticed by discounts and promise of national caliber performance. I was with my daughter who was fairly new to classical music. I didn’t want her getting bored with just one form of performance or a lengthy concert. When I first sat down for the concert, I was fairly disappointed by the size of their performers. There was this one person who was the director, conductor and a first chair rolled up into one. Two other violinists, a clarinet, one flute, and so on with a skeletal crew. I decided to lower my expectation and braced for an hour and a half of torture. BUT I was very nicely surprised. It had just enough diversity in music that kept my daughter hooked on to this performance. Two soprano arias, a ballet and Hungarian dance and various orchestral music by various Vienna raised composers. My husband who usually falls asleep in most of the concerts, actually stayed awake for the entire performance and was one of the first guests to shout encore. My Mozart loving mom was very happy with her dose of Mozart and my daughter found interest in classical music. Win. Win and Win. Worth every penny. We sat on the beautiful venue’s balcony section. When I look down, I see happy faces, bobbing their head with the beat of the music, tapping with their feet, and/or or playing piano with their fingers. I just wished that they had a few more dances and vocals. All of our family members were happy at the end of the performance. When we came down to the foyer after the performance, One of the manager found us and welcomed us and actually gave us their live performance CD. I still listen to it on my way to the work and let the nostalgia of that performance wash over me. I would recommend this performance to any ages and all types of music...
Read moreWe were sold tickets by a genuinely kind street vendor for an incredibly good price, 25€ each for bronze seats. We would typically be wary of this method of ticket distribution, but we had previously checked the prices for classical performances on multiple websites, and the next cheapest seats we found were 33€ each. Unfortunately the seller misspoke, and led us to believe the concert was by the Weiner philharmonic, not Royal orchestra. We still enjoyed ourselves however, and the musicians were world class.
We were ultimately still disappointed in not seeing the philharmonic orchestra, and brought this up with the man in charge of the night. Our primary concern was informing them of their street vendors selling tickets under false pretences - and did not expect any sort of refund or restitution. He was very understanding, friendly, and forthcoming, ultimately giving us a bottle of sekt and a royal orchestra CD for the misunderstanding. He explained the street seller likely made this mistake as some members of the philharmonic orchestra are also in the royal orchestra - perhaps leading to personal confusion on the part of the vendor. The manager said he would bring it up with the man, who was known personally to him. I am comfortably confident that there was no intent to mislead.
To conclude, a pleasant evening with a large variety of well known, expertly performed classical pieces designed for tourists and those interested in a light hearted experience. The musicians are extremely skilled, and seem to be enjoying the more relaxed energy of the room. The programme is dotted with an operatic vocalist, dancers, and several interactive elements. At one and a half hours, it is engaging enough for families with children, and for those who are unfamiliar with classical music. Not an experience designed for everyone, but absolutely worth it if variety and accessibility is your...
