I have had to delete my previous review, as Google only allows one review per guest.
This was my 4th (7 night stay) since October 2023! Again, just incredible, in every regard.
From the moment of our arrival, until our departure, the team made sure we felt as if we had returned home: the fact that I have enjoyed so many stays over a short passage of time, is testament to how very impressed I am by what is (in IHO) the very best of Vienna’s 5* luxury hotels. There are so many fine hotels in the district but they don’t evidence the perfect blend of opulence and respect, with genuine warmth and dedication to the enjoyment of each guest, that characterises the Grand Wien.
I wish to thank Luis (front desk supervisor) for handling, yet again, our booking-assigning the most amazing suite, with terrace. Luis took time to ensure everything was was perfect, nothing was too much trouble and he is a young professional of the highest calibre. Thanks also to Thomas for the lovely, hand written, welcome card and for his assistance. Indeed, the entire reception team is dedicated, warm and comitted to guest enjoyment. It was a pleasure to meet with Yousef, the newly appointed Front desk manager, who already has made a great impression and his leadership skills are apparent- a welcome addition to the hotel. He has great interpersonal skills and is very warm and engaging.
Walid, the best Concierge ever! What a distinguished and genuine gentleman: he knows us well by now and once again assisted in so many ways, from orchestrating airport transfers etc, to securing tickets for local attractions and affording time and information regarding anything and everything we required, an amazing professional and so warm and engaging.
Raymond, Manager for F&B etc is a very warm and approachable gentlman, with whom I enjoyed charming conversations. He must be very proud of his teams and breakfast, as ever, was incredible: I asked him to please extend special thanks to Basima, who took such great care of us.
Thanks so much to Markus, manger, of Rosengarten. Another great individual who is a genuine and warm person. We really enjoyed Afternoon Tea and drinks and cake in the bar. Markus manages the team so well and they are dedicated and charming.
Every visit brings new highlights and, on this visit, we discovered the incredible fine dining restaurant (reviewed separately)! Simply sublime.
As we wish to avoid high season, owing to crowd levels at attractions etc, we prefer to travel between October and April but, even when at 100% capacity, at the Grand, they have time for every guest.
I wish to also commend Gentjan and Leon, along with other team members for organising local transport and generally assisting us with luggage etc.
In conclusion, we will return soon. General manager, Oliver Geyer, is a man of great experience and vision who is, justifiably, proud of his teams. Mr Geyer is dedicated to the enjoyment of his guests and is very warm and engaging. The fact that so many people of great eminence select the Grand as their hotel of choice, along with an eclectic mix of guests from all demographics, is testament to just how wonderful this hotel is- aesthetically beautiful, with an attitude of respect but genuine warmth.
I am already looking forward to...
Read moreHonestly one of the worsts experiences I’ve ever had - and I work in tourism. I arrived late on my first day and discover that 1 of the 2 black outs in the windows of my room wasn’t working (the one in front of my face). I called to see if they could change me to another room or fix it and they only had 1 twin bed room from a different category (lower) so I said I understand, it’s ok, please just fix it tomorrow. Also, the AC sounded like an actual tractor (hear the video) and the general button for the electricity in the room turned off without touching it. The second day I went down and told them about these 3 problems (I couldn’t sleep of course), they apologized and said that the technician would fixing it this morning (black out, AC and the automatic button of the energy in the room - the lady even said some other guests complained about this last issue). I returned in the evening to the hotel, arrive to my room and it wasn’t fixed. Called the reception again to ask if the technician gave them an update and they said no, that he was super busy and he couldn’t give an update if it was fixed. Not only that, now the 2nd blackout wasn’t working (not only the one in my face). Next day I wake up at 6 am from the light (2nd night out of my 3 nights here) and go again to the reception. They moved me to a suite for my last night and I asked them to PLEASE check if this room (suite or no suite I couldn’t care less) has a working black out - I arrived late at night and not only the black out didn’t work (and the curtains didn’t close completely), but while I was in the shower the general button for the electricity disconnected again (like in the first room) and I had to leave the shower in complete darkness outside to turn it on. I cut my finger and hit my toes with the metal holder of the door. Honestly very very dangerous. The worst thing about this last room, and it’s honestly now the story is sad and funny, the lamp of one of the bedside tables couldn’t be turned off, and it wasn’t possible to disconnect it as it was sticked to the wall. Summary of my stay: couldn’t sleep 3 out of 3 nights - first 2 with the tractor sound of the AC and no black outs / and the last one without a black out and the lamp on, the breakfast came wrong every single day, staff wasn’t very helpful (except for a Manager named Vanessa that was shocked with my experience and tried to help), and I paid more than $500 per night. Do NOT stay here.
Ps. Sad that I can’t add videos to show the sound of the AC and no black...
