A Thoroughly Disappointing Evening
Two weeks ago, I reserved a Teppanyaki table at Momoya for 8:00 PM. On the same day, around 2:00 PM, I called the restaurant to confirm the reservation, which was acknowledged and confirmed.
We arrived at the restaurant 15 minutes before the reserved time, only to be informed that our table was not available. The staff explained this with reasons that were unclear to us, as all the Teppanyaki tables were occupied. We were told we would have to wait approximately 45 minutes. However, as the evening progressed, it became clear that the actual waiting time would have exceeded one hour.
Instead, we were seated at a regular table and told we could order à la carte. Since it was a Saturday evening in Vienna, and finding another suitable restaurant on short notice would have been difficult, we reluctantly gave up on the Teppanyaki experience and decided to order à la carte.
Unfortunately, what followed was equally disappointing. Two side dishes and one main course were served, despite us clearly ordering two main courses along with the side dishes. When we pointed this out, the waiter took the food back to the kitchen. After a considerable wait, the food returned—one of the mains, a filet, was completely overcooked. It was evident that it had been sitting under a heat lamp for some time, as we had specifically ordered it rare.
Overall, we were dissatisfied with the service, the ambiance, and, given the circumstances, the food quality. The service staff, especially one particular waitress, lacked professionalism and handled the situation inadequately.
In conclusion, we believe there are countless better dining options in Vienna and would not recommend Momoya based on this experience. Sorry to be...
Read moreGreat Japanese restaurant with astonishing food. This restaurant is more of an upper class dojo type restaurant so expect to pay more than expected for sushi(a middle sized portion of sushi comes at 16€ and a sashimi comes at 24€) but the main dishes are cheap, sometimes even less than 10€! The waiters are very polite and food is served very quickly. There are also tables where the sushi chef cooks your meal in front of you. Just remember not to sit outside, even if its very hot, because outside it does not resemble the culture and style of Japan, while indoors, it is lavishly decorated in a great way! If you are looking for a great non-alcoholic beverage, I recommend the Momoya mojito, because it has a good twist to the original Virgin mojito by adding black tea instead of water. The restaurant is great, I have come here a few times and ordered Bulgogi (beef) sushi, sashimi, and all were done perfectly and tasted delicious. A great pick for traditional Japanese cuisine, better than almost...
Read moreI am not joking if say they have the best everything, The first time I went there, I asked for recommendations and they happily gave it to me, while I was ordering they made me know that it could be enough for one person which made me trust that they have my best interest at heart. I ordered three Typs of Sushi and they all taste beyond imagination. The second time ordered something with beef and it is by for one of my top five beef eating experience in any country. The staff are kind, The place is super clean and speaks about the food and the food speaks about the country of Oregon. A d the food is out standing. I can’t say more or I will go eat there again because...
