Restaurant 1723 — Restaurant in Vienna

Note: The hotel and restaurant seem to be under new management. (Nov. 2024) This could be why our food was better than some other reviewers'. We were staying at the adjoining hotel, and my wife had showered after a day of sightseeing before realizing she'd never get it dry in time to go "out" for dinner in freezing weather. So, when she sent me out looking for dinner to eat in our room, I saw this restaurant in our lobby. Open, tables set, but no one there! Apparently, 6:30pm is early for a Viennese dinner so the employees were off doing other things. Eventually a guy came over and I ordered "to take away". They called me in our room when the food was ready to pick up, on a large tray with real utensils. (They would have delivered it but I didn't want to pay the extra €5 + tip, and they were happy as they were busy doing other things.) And....wow! The Wienerschnitzel (breaded thin veal, (waaay better than German schnitzel) was wonderful. The goulash (a vegetable beef soup) delicious, and the apple strudel is to die for! I look forward to breakfast...

Essen war wirklich gut - Schnitzel sehr zu empfehlen, wenn man etwas kritisieren möchte dann den fehlenden frischen Kren zum Tafelspitz und den fehlenden Löffel. War mit meiner Familie zum Osterbruch da, sehr leckeres Essen und gutes Preis Leistungsverhältnis. Das Paprika Hähnchen war Butterweich!!! Panna Cotta war sehr gut lecker und war sehr appetitlich...
